How to choose the perfect wedding stationary

Submitted by Abbie Ting on March 13, 2008 – 7:17 amNo Comment

How do you choose the perfect wedding stationary

Your stationary is the first wedding detail your guests see, and the look and feel of its sets the tone for your wedding, so it’s important to get it right.

What you choose will depend partly on your budget – on average couples spend £244 on wedding on wedding stationary. Bespoke designs are the most pricey, while those from the range of the letterpress set will cost around £3.00 per invite (see wrenpress.com)

Of course you can go for a mix of styles if you want to spend more on some items than others. Once you have got your guest list, working out the number of invitations you will need is simple- one per household. However it’s wise to order a few extra. It’s inevitable there will be those who won’t be able to make attend and you may want to invite people from your reserve guest list. If you do end up getting too few, you can always buy a pack of classic cards as a back up.

If you are going all out, you could start by sending ’save the date’ cards six months before your wedding. Invites should be sent two months to six weeks before the day. It is quite common to enclose a card with details of your wedding gift list see Wrapit.co.uk and asprey.com and a RSVP card with a stamped, addressed envelope, which will encourage a prompt reply. Many couples now enclose maps, details of local hotels with their wedding invitations.

A top end stationer will design these to match you invites, see borrowedbluepress.com and piccolopress.co.uk

If you are having an order of service printed – particularly useful for a religious ceremony with hymns and readings, and also a lovely keepsake – allow one for every want to have menus, with matching place cards and table numbers. And don’t forget those all important thank you notes.
