East Meets West In Mayfair

“Jewel of Mayfair brings East to West for couples who want the best of both for the biggest day of their lives”

When I think of Asian weddings, the first word that springs to mind is “colour…” Bright and vibrant reds, oranges, and lashings of beautiful gold. But how do you do the lavish traditions of an Asian wedding in a thoroughly western setting like London? Think Shaadi and Scarlet Events were on hand to show 250 invited guests how it’s done.

Pleasingly, there wasn’t a white tablecloth in sight at last Friday’s Jewel of Mayfair wedding showcase at the sublime May Fair Hotel. The event was divided, like a crown, into diamond, sapphire, ruby, and emerald. Each area showcased the finest products in the namesake colour, from florals to china to astounding cakes by Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium.

The whole room glittered with vivid colour, from red glassware lit with shimmering tea lights, to elegant mirrored menus and table settings. Scarlet Events know how to pack a punch with their designs and the tables at The Jewel of Mayfair brought a touch of Brighton Pavillion decadence to the London wedding industry. Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium’s creations called to mind classic Wedgwood crockery, the artistry of Elizabeth’s confections never fails to amaze me. Intricate Creations provided sumptuous menus, place settings, and invitation samples in luxury materials: there was deep blue velvet, metallics, mirrors, cut outs, and delicate ribbons in their personalised, luxury event essentials.

There were also some beautiful bridal gowns and cocktail dresses on display as well, with Oscar de la Renta presenting some classic and clean white gowns, which glowed amidst the brilliance of the jewel themed tables. 4 gorgeous models showcased the meeting of western and eastern cultures, with their white dresses and beautiful hair and make up (by Aamir Navid and Ambreen respectively) off set by stunning Asian jewellery by Amrapali and henna by H Beauty.
