In the run up to the National Wedding Show, we’ll be doing spotlight features on some of our favourite exhibitors. This week, the week of the show, we are looking at what the magnificent Somerset venue, Orchardleigh House, has to offer…
About Orchardleigh House
Ten miles from the historic city of Bath, an imposing, gothic Victorian mansion sits proudly in 500 acres of rolling, green, grounds. Within the estate’s vast reach, a bride is crossing a still, peaceful stretch of water in an elegant gondola, heading for a little island church where her groom awaits. Lit only by candlelight, St Mary’s has never had electricity installed – although it is the only island church in the world to have its own helipad…
This is Orchardleigh House, in Somerset, and estate with not one, but two parish churches available, as well as licensing within the house for civil ceremonies. This exclusive use venue has a capacity starting at 144 people (for the ceremony) and can house up to 400 guests for a marquee reception in the grounds. There is overnight accommodation for up to 172 people, throughout the house itself and several estate dwellings.
What make Orchardleigh special?
Where to start? There’s the hidden walled garden – which has been available for weddings only since June this year – the classic cars for wedding transport, the in-house wedding cake supply, the ornamental lakes and landscaped gardens, the golf and equestrian facilities… and the sheer, beautiful grandeur of the place.
