In the run up to the National Wedding Show, we’ll be doing spotlight features on some of our favourite exhibitors. This week we are celebrating the magnificence of luxe Oxfordshire wedding venue, Blenheim Palace.
About Blenheim Palace
Built in the early 18th Century, with celebrated architect Sir John Vanbrugh at the helm, Blenheim Palace is a breathtaking Baroque house set in 2000 acres of luscious, green gardens. While it is still home to the 12th Duke of Marlborough, Blenheim is also a World Heritage Site and incredible venue for events and luxury weddings.
What Makes Blenheim Palace So Special
Blenheim is vast and extremely grand, so couples can take their pick from several stunning spots within the house and grounds to hold their ceremony and reception. Ceremonies and receptions can be held in the Orangery in the palace grounds – a glorious long room, with glass paneled ceilings and enormous arched windows that is filled with sunlight on summer days. Private and secluded – with its own entrance – the Orangery has an exclusive use terrace with views overlooking the Italian garden.
Alternatively, there are several spaces available within the palace itself for weddings. Brides and grooms can choose from many spots in the palace to have a drinks reception, such as the Champagne Bar, the Italian Garden Terrace, the Colonnades, the Palace State Rooms, or the Water Terrace.
Blenheim is licensed for ceremonies, but is also available simply as a reception venue, and grand receptions can be designed to take place in the Great Hall and Saloon (sold together) the Long Library, or – if you would love to make the view of the glorious palace the highlight of your day – in a marquee on the lawn.
