Michelle And Zaheer’s Wedding In The Greek Island Amorgos

Today we thought we would warm you up with this vibrant colorful wedding that took place in the Greek Island of Amogos sent into us by Neli Prahova. Now over to the bride herself…..

Real Weddings GreeceMarriage is a very special moment in one’s life.  It marks the beginning of a lifelong commitment of love, happiness and togetherness.  Zaheer and I wanted it to be the most special weekend of our lives so far.  We both wanted to be in a locale we have both never been before.

Grreek Weddings So together we wrote down the top 5 places we would want to start our lives together as a couple.  Greece was the only place that made both our list so the work began to find the perfect place that would reflect both our taste and zest for adventure.

Real Weddings GreeceWe started our research into Greek weddings that would give us an authentic Greek feel.  With the help of our wedding planner Helena we were able to decide on Amorgos, Greece.  The Greek Island Amorgos is a beautiful rugged less travelled gem.  The owners of the Aegialis Hotel & Spa were the sweetest people and the entire experience was one out of a fairy tale.  From the Salt Water pool to the nightclub inside the mountain and the organic food grown on the grounds of the hotel – I could not have asked for a more perfect way to start our lives together .

Weddings In Greece

Our wedding weekend was full of so beautiful memories that every day I am grateful that I had the chance to experience. Two moments that I loved most were the night of the wedding when my husband and his two brothers gave a special tribute to their late Parents Colin and Claire Benjamin and we danced to their Dad’s favourite song “I don’t know much, but I know I love you” that he would sing and play the piano to their Mom.  The other was the welcome dinner on beach with the perfect Greek sunset, great food and alcohol.

My brother in law Kareem gave a speech to welcome everyone to our wedding, then my mother, my other brother in law Jamaal, my sister Kamara and then almost all our guest gave a speech.  Those moments were made more magical, more special because we were in Greece on this beautiful exotic island.  We were under the stars; the weather was perfect; the universe aligned to make us feel as if the Greek Gods were approving this marriage.  I could never have even imagined my wedding would be free of stress and full of new exciting memories.  Today I have my photographer Neli to thank for capturing the weekend in all its glory with her camera. She flew all the way from London and her photographs will bring fond memories for years to come.

Being the only bride on the island added yet another layer of specialness to our wedding.  Everyone on the island joined in the celebration as we rode our donkeys to the city hall adorned with the local flowers and serenaded by Greek musicians. I can’t say enough about how every moment was special.  The people of the island went above and beyond to make us and our guest feel welcome and special.  We truly loved every moment of our wedding weekend.
