Real Wedding – Symbolic Ceremony and Rustic Banquet in Italy

The Couple

This week’s Real Wedding comes to us from Italy, where nature-lovers, Gabriella and Riccardo, married last year in a rustic, Tuscan countryside affair. Their day was eco-friendly, flourished with personal and symbolic details, and – of course – plenty of delicious Italian food.

The Dress (Etc)

Gabriella looked beautiful in a sleeveless Maggie Sottero gown, with a sweetheart neckline and intricate lace detailing. A cascading white veil complimented the full train of the dress, and she completed her look with loose curls, killer heels, and a rustic bouquet of fabric flowers. Later in the day, Gabriella slipped into white sneakers, for photo opportunities in the fragrant lavender fields of the surrounding countryside. Groom Riccardo looked handsome in a blue-grey suit, with chic satin lapels and matching tie.

The Ceremony

Gabriella and Riccardo tied the knot at an outdoor altar, in the heart of a vineyard, overlooking the Tuscan landscape, and the Towers of Certaldo. All friends, including four-legged ones, were present, as the happy couple poured coloured sand into jars to symbolise two becoming one, and had their hands joined in red ribbon.

The Reception

After the sweet, symbolic ceremony, guests enjoyed an outdoor feast, and were encouraged to add their fingerprints to a tableau of a tree, in lieu of a guest book. Lanterns, candles, and potted flowers adorned the long banqueting tables, which were sheltered by stylish gazebos with a view of the amazing countryside.
