Rebecca Cella make knitted bridal dresses from fine silk and sparkling lurex yarns. The latest collection focuses on hand embellished slinky dresses covered in tiny shimmering sequins, hand cut chiffon petals or mother of pearl shells. Dresses are made to measure from my London and Ibiza based studios.

  • 5 Star Weddings: How do you make your signature gorgeous fabrics?

Rebecca Cella: A Every fabric is knitted from a vast array of luxurious beautiful fine yarns. I am constantly experimenting with new techniques and different combinations of yarns and materials to achieve a truly unique and beautiful fabric. It is very important to create a fabric which is instantly recognisable to the label as that is what makes my dresses unique..

  • 5 Star Weddings: What can bride expect from the Rebecca Cella made-to-order experience?

Rebecca Cella : A The initial appointment is very relaxed and informal, the bride-to-be can browse through the collections, fabrics, and books, either in the comfort of her own home or at my london based studio – there is no fee and weekend appointments can also be made. She can try the dresses, and we can start to design her dream dress piecing together her favourite aspects from as many or from one dress. We can even design a dress from scratch based on a sketch or image she has been inspired by.

  • 5 Star Weddings: What do you think attracts brides to come to Rebecca Cella?

Rebecca Cella: A I started making my bridal collection after a huge response after i made my own wedding dress in 2010. For years clients had been telling me how beautiful and sexy the fabrics made them feel, from the slinky low backs, to figure hugging silhouttes. It made perfect sense to create a bridal range. My Brides-to-be are looking for a completely different kind of wedding dress to what is out there. They are not looking for The classic or meringue type gown – they want to feel glamorous and sexy but at the same time elegant and unique. They want a fabric which sculpts and shapes their body without having to go for a thick or stiff and restricting fabric. My fabrics are luxuriously slinky and are especially perfect for Spring and Summer weddings although the twinkling fabrics are also spectacular for candlelit winter weddings!

  • 5 Star Weddings: What did you wear for your wedding in Ibiza 2010?

Rebecca Cella: A I wore my signature chain dress in white, with a low back. The fabric is knitting with fine silk ribbons and hand embellished with tiny white and silver chains which glistened in the sun and sparkled in the candlelight. For the party i changed into my fishtail cobweb shell dress which is knitted with shimmering silver and irridescent yarns and tiny mother of pearl shells and platinum sequins! i felt like a mermaid!

  • 5 Star Weddings: What inspired you for the new collection?

Rebecca Cella: I was looking at blossom and how it pools at the base of trees, it was an idea i had whilst studying textile design at St Martins which i had always wanted to revisit for a collection. I am often very inspired by nature and pattern which i instantly envisage on the knitting machine. This collection features a lot of delicate petal fishtail shapes and has an ethereal magical quality to it.

  • 5 Star Weddings: What is your favourite dress from the new collection?

Rebecca Cella: One of my favourites is the Petal Dress. The top half is quite sculpted and creates a fantastic shape on the body, it is knitting with metal chain and silk lurex which gradually is taken over by a mass of delicate flowing petals which fall into a beautiful fishtail.

  • 5 Star Weddings: What would be your top tip for planning your wedding?

Rebecca Cella: A Your wedding is all about you and your partner and the whole day should reflect both of you as a couple. So my top tip would be to be true to your own style and go with what you feel comfortable with. In years to come you want to look back and feel that day encapsulated everything that represented you both
