A Scottish Celebration, Italian Style

This week our real wedding showcases the exquisite photographic work of Andrea & Federica, luxury wedding photographers based in Italy.

The location…

Mairi Clare and Brian were utterly seduced by the beauty of Villa Mocale, set within rolling hills covered with vineyards, just a few miles from Florence. Their initial plan to hold their wedding in a hotel was quickly cast aside when they laid eyes on the Villa and they knew this was the place they were to celebrate their wedding.

The couple wed in a charming church in Florence, Santi Apostoli, fulfilling their dream of a true Florentine ceremony and then they were whisked away to enjoy their stunning surroundings.

The photographers…

Andrea & Federica took some beautiful shots of the newly married couple around Florence – on Ponte Vecchio on the Arno river, and later among the stunning countryside and vineyards of the reception property. These gorgeous photos will provide Mairi Clare and Brian with wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. Andrea & Federica managed to capture the joy and happiness of the day whilst still maintaining a relaxed and informal feel – the images feel un-intrusive – almost as if you were there celebrating with the happy couple.

The bride…

Mairi Clare chose a stunning ivory gown with beautiful intricate beading embellishment around the neckline and extending onto the back of the gown, meeting the tiny beaded buttons that trailed all the way down. The classic cut mermaid style dress was set off by Mairi Clare’s ethereal veil – simple and elegant – creating the perfect image as she floated down the aisle of the picturesque church. We love the style of the dress – simple and understated, to let the gorgeous embellishment really shine, without upstaging the beautiful bride herself!

The bride chose to wear her hair up in a relaxed chignon which ensured her sparkling drop earrings were on show, elongating her neck and allowing her whisper-thin veil to drape perfectly over her train.

The reception…

Hailing from Scotland, the couple were keen to incorporate their heritage into their special day. Guests were piped into the reception by a bagpiper, creating a superb mood, and were then treated to Prosecco and strawberries under a centenary tree.

Welcoming the newlyweds, friends and family enjoyed the wedding breakfast in a beautiful courtyard, where they celebrated with a meal as the glorious Italian sunset in the distance in dazzling colours.

Tables were adorned with elegant candelabras and gorgeous white, pink and lilac flowers, complementing the hand-tied a bridal bouquet of white peonies and pale pink roses. Cute individual bottles of authentic Italian Limoncello adorned each clean and classic place setting as guest favours and a delicious dinner including exquisite Italian millefoglie was heartily consumed.

And then came the dancing…

Scots are well known for their enthusiasm on the dance floor, and Mairi Clare and Brian’s wedding was no different. Friends and family danced the night away, ending the perfect day in the perfect way, with a song by Scottish band Runrig – Loch Lomond. What a simply stunning day – so personal and unique to this special couple – a day to treasure forever.
