Plan A Wedding To Match Your Personality Part 3

Your Bridal Personality: The ‘Sun Baby’ Bride

At 5 Star Weddings we know brides – our team members have backgrounds in wedding photography, venue management, beauty, and florals – meaning we have seen it all, from the whacky to the wonderful – when it comes to weddings. We have put our heads together to create guides for brides on pulling together all the elements of the perfect wedding, according to different, unique personalities.

This week we’re creating a style guide for those brides who have always dreamed of a sun soaked ceremony with a healthy dose of Riviera fabulousness, and a rustic wedding feast that lasts long into the night.

mood-board-copyThink elements of Grace Kelly in To Catch a Thief, and Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday. The Sun Baby Bride is ultra sophisticated, and most at home on – or near – a beach, wearing a fabulous pair of Prada sunglasses and sipping a very nice glass of wine…

1 – Dress by Marchesa, 2 – 3 dresses by Stephanie Allin, 4 – Clarin’s , 5 – Charlotte Tilbury Film Star Bronze and Glow (Harrods), 6 – Prada Sunglasses (Net-a-Porter) 7 – Bikini, Net-a-Porter, 8 – Palm Diamond Cuff by Theo Fennell at Harrods, 9 – Tom Ford Matte Lip Color (Harrods), 10 – Les Eaux Rose Alexandrie EDT, 100 ml, Georgio Armani (Harrods).

Here comes the bride…

For the Sun Baby Bride, we chose gowns with a flowing, summery feel, and strapless or Bardot necklines to really show off a summer glow. Taking inspiration from screen sirens, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, and Sophia Loren – all of whom became synonymous with European glamour in the 1950s and ‘60s, we have selected gowns by Stephanie Allin and Marchesa, which combine a fabulously feminine silhouette with a lighter-than-air quality. Perfect for scorching Italian summers…

The Finishing Touches

To complete the Sun Baby Bride look, we chose a blushing coral shade of lipstick by Tom Ford, and – of course – a warm and sultry Film Star Bronze and Glow by Charlotte Tilbury. Accessories should be simple for this look, but it’s definitely an occasion where only gold will do: the Palm Diamond Cuff by Theo Fennell at Harrods will hint at the Mediterranean vibe. Citrus and rose notes from Armani’s Rose Alexandrie eau de toilette will call to mind the bountiful lemon trees of hot, sunny Europe as our Sun Baby walks down the aisle. Later that night, a low backed bridal chemise by Marjolaine at Harrods will set the groom’s pulse racing…

Don’t forget to pack…

For a Sun Baby Bride, the suitcase won’t be ready to fasten shut until it contains some knock out sunglasses by Prada, travel toiletries like these ones by Eve Lom, a pin-up bikini by Dolce & Gabbana, and every girl’s best friend for the summer months: the gradual tanner. Clarins’ new self-tan innovation, Radiance Plus Body Golden Glow Booster, may be a tongue twister but it is a revolution when it comes to a safe summer glow; a few drops of the elixir mixed in with your normal moisturiser means you can create a made-to-measure colour in time for the summer months.

Venues: Where to say ‘I Do’

We’ve picked two gorgeous wedding venues to go with our Sun Baby Bride that make the most of the land around them, creating incredible sun spots ideal for long, luxurious summer banquets and enjoying champagne under summer rays. We had to choose an Italian venue, and Castello Bevilacqua – a 14th Century castle in the heart of Verona countryside – is the epitome of continental grandeur. Rolling hillsides and medieval history are paired with stunning Renaissance interiors; from the stone floors, up walls adorned with murals, to high ceilings teetering above four poster beds, it’s easy to imagine this palatial dwelling is what Shakespeare had in mind when he wrote about the Capulet mansion. It is fair Verona, after all…

The second venue we’ve chosen for the Sun Baby Bride, is a little closer to home – but with no less elegance or breathtaking scenery. While good weather is never to be taken as a given on our windy, rainy little isle, one of the places where you can generally rely on a great summer is Cornwall. Often referred to as the English Riviera, for good reason, there are parts of the beautiful south west English coast that could be mistaken for the Med. Fowey Hall Hotel, a grand Italianate mansion house overlooking the Fowey estuary, just across the bay from St Austell, is the perfect venue for a sprawling, family wedding party. Food, comfort, and family are at the core of Fowey Hall’s service ethos – a very Mediterranean attitude to life. This grand hall, thought to be the inspiration for Toad Hall in Wind in the Willows, is a little piece of continental charm on England’s coast.
