Andrea Bagnasco Fotografie
My name is Andrea Bagnasco. I’m a documentary wedding photographer based in Italy. I was born in 1971, I’m married, father of a young boy and have an incurable passion for guitars.
I discovered my interest in photography in my early teens when I saved for months to get my first serious camera. After receiving my university degree and working in corporate for just the time I needed to realise it wasn’t something for me, for different reasons and life events I decided it was time to start earning my living on something that allowed my personality and creativity to come through.
I’m fortunate enough to be blessed with a good eye for composition, so my style gradually developed from what is a natural way for me of seeing things. I'm curious and observant, a little perfectionist, perhaps more than just a little. What interests me is to photograph people for who they are and to tell their stories. I work very unobtrusively and my direct impact on the actual events of the day is minimal. I want my images to be real and to depict authentic moments. The power of emotions can be preserved by pictures that seize the moment and turn it into a lifetime memory. This is what matters the most and my photographic style is just a way of enhancing the whole experience, to put my clients and their story in the spotlight and celebrate their day.
I’ve always looked at the work of the great street and documentary photographers: Henri Cartier-Bresson, W Eugene Smith, Sebastiao Salgado, Garry Winogrand, Alex Webb, just to name a few. Also, we Italians live in a country drenched in art and history, which necessarily affect our perception of beauty and the way we see things. Visual arts are somewhat innate to us, whether we are fully aware of this, or not.
The Wedding Day
What inspires me is the opportunity to tell a story with my pictures, to create something from a blank canvas. When I set out for the venue on the wedding day I have no idea of the pictures I will take as it will all depend on the events that will happen. My job is to feel my way through the day and create something beautiful from what is being given to me
How Do I Make My Clients Happy?
My clients are happy when they perceive real value in what they buy. This holds true with anything, but especially with wedding photography, where what clients really buy is memories, the opportunity to preserve their emotions and to pass them on to future generations.
The pictures of their wedding day are a document that speaks of them to the ones that aren’t here yet, a way for their children to get to know their parents. How can you put a price on that? It’s really all about the value that my clients perceive in the pictures that I deliver and in the overall experience that is offered to them. I just make sure I perform outstandingly in both regards.
