Colour palette: Dusty blue

If you’re feeling blue at the thought of summer fading, let us put you right back in a happy place with this dusty blue palette. Faded blues remind you of sun kissed wood panelling and cute beach huts, and act as a taste of the moody blues of winter to come. This autumnal hue is warmer than the icy tones of a frosty season, and looks great set against cream and grey tones. Here are some of our favourite ways to make the most of a faded blue palette.

Flowers and fashion

I love the look of dusty blue under a white layer of tulle, but if you’re not sold on a coloured wedding dress, pass it on to your bridesmaids and flower girls! Dusty blue flowers appear as thistles, succulents, hydrangea, and other accompanying frosty leaves and berries. And if you want something different, why not go for a dusty blue accent – shoes or beading on your dress – it’s all in the detail.

Design and décor

Lighten the palette with soft pink or peach, and bring it down with beautiful burgundy for a profoundly indulgent feel. Stationery looks super cool with dusty blue florals with a hint of willow pattern, and this palette is easy to incorporate into your décor with table runners, candles, soft drapes and glassware. A beautiful marbled or watercolour cake would go down a treat too!
