Varese Destination Weddings hosted this Fam trip to bring the best wedding planner to the region to discover the fantastic wedding venues, food, culture, and stunning scenery that Lombardy has to offer, and it did just that.
Getting to Varese is easy and convenient. The closest airport to Varese is Malpensa (MXP), just an hour away by car or train. From there, you can explore the city by car or public transportation, such as regional trains, buses, and taxis that offer direct connections to the city center. Additionally, numerous transportation options get you to and from different regional locations, such as Lake Maggiore, Lake Como, and other nearby towns. Varese also has several car rental services for those looking for a more leisurely trip. No matter your preference, you can find an option that suits your needs.
Hotel de Charme Laveno

International Museum of Ceramic Design
After a relaxing afternoon, we visited the International Museum of Ceramic Design for our first site visit. Located in Laveno, the Museum houses over 6,000 pieces of ceramic artwork from Europe and Asia dating back to the 16th century. Housed in the sixteenth-century Palazzo Perabò with an internal porticoed courtyard and loggia on the upper floor, this stately building has a fascinating history.
The Museum’s permanent collection contains works from the Richard-Ginori Italian Ceramic Society, the Scotti-Meregalli donation, and other private donations, offering a unique and diverse insight into ceramic design.
Here you will find everything from vases and sculptures to pottery and tiles, as well as various modern pieces. Whether you’re an art enthusiast or looking for something special to explore on your honeymoon, the International Museum of Ceramic Design provides an unforgettable experience. Regarding weddings, the Museum is open for events and weddings in the inner court and is the municipal house.

Day Two
The next day, we explored Lake Maggiore, the largest lake in Lombardy. We took a boat ride around the lake and enjoyed stunning vistas of Varese and its surroundings. As we sailed across the water, we admired the many properties along the shoreline.
Any wedding celebration has many options, from luxurious villas to rustic countryside houses. We also had the opportunity to spot some of the area’s wildlife and take in Lake Maggiore’s stunning scenery. The boat trip was an excellent way to get a feel for Varese and all it offers.

After dinner, we returned to our hotel, satisfied and ready for more adventures in Varese!
Day Three

Next stop. Tana d’Orso is in the village (Borgo) of Mustonate, near Varese. It is a rustic wedding venue perfect for couples wanting an outdoor wedding. The Palace Grand Hotel
Later that day, we checked in to The Palace Grand Hotel Varese for an overnight say and a group dinner.
The Palace Grand Hotel Varese has a rich history dating back to the early 20th century. Originally known as the Palace Hotel, it was built in 1913 and quickly became a popular destination for travellers seeking luxury and elegance. The hotel underwent a significant renovation in the 1920s, adding Art Nouveau decorations and embellishments to its impressive architecture.
Today, the hotel ballroom can accommodate up to 200 guests and offers complimentary parking. Suppliers are not exclusive to the venue, but there is an internal kitchen that is not transferable. The price per person for menus starts at 120 euros plus VAT. The venue offers the possibility of hosting an authentic civil ceremony and has a large park adjacent to the structure, providing an ideal location for cocktails, lunches, dinners, and open-bar services. With over 100 rooms for guests, the venue offers the newlyweds their first night as a gift.
The Palace Grand Hotel presents 112 generously adorned, roomy, and well-lit accommodations. Their marble bathrooms and tasteful, understated furnishings harmonize seamlessly with the soft-hued walls and the Art Nouveau décor that is distinctly Italian.
Day Four
Parco di Villa Panza
Our first visit for the day was to Parco di Villa Panza, a 17th-century villa and park in Varese. The Parco is home to an impressive collection of art and antiques from the 18th and 19th centuries, making it an excellent place for history buffs. It also features lush gardens and ponds, providing visitors with a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Parco di Villa Panza is a great place to spend an afternoon soaking up the culture and history while taking in stunning views of Lake Varese and the surrounding countryside. Sacro Monte di Varese
After a long uphill ride, we finally arrived at The Sanctuary of Santa Maria del Monte. It is considered one of the oldest and most iconic churches in Varese, located atop a hill and offering breathtaking views of the city and its surroundings. The church, built in the 11th century, still serves as a venue for religious ceremonies today. The centuries-old architecture and historical significance of The Sanctuary of Santa Maria del Monte make it a must-see attraction for anyone visiting Varese.

After taking some lovely photos, we headed downhill to The Borducan Romantic Hotel & Restaurant for a themed lunch and a touch of the famous Borducan drink. The hotel’s rustic feel is perfect for couples who want an outdoor micro-wedding. It is in the countryside, surrounded by stunning mountains and Lake Maggiore views.
Villa Ponti
After lunch, we returned to our hotel to prepare for the main event. Garden Weddings on the Lake at Ville Ponti, hosted by the Varese Chamber of Commerce and entertained by a fashion show that left us all wondering, with Angelo Garini as artistic director.
Daniela Calvi Atelier showcased their exquisite creations that left us all captivated. Daniela Calvi Atelier is one of the leading dressmakers in Varese, and they create beautiful couture wedding gowns and special occasion dresses made from luxurious fabrics. Each piece is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, making Daniela Calvi Atelier’s work unique and timeless.
Villa Andrea Ponti is a magnificent venue in the city centre, that has been restored to its former glory, providing a luxurious setting for your wedding ceremony or reception.
Built-in 1858, Villa Andrea has an elegant, airy facade decorated with obelisks and columns. It surprises visitors with monumental interiors harmoniously arranged around an octagonal atrium. Its rooms are light-filled and splendidly decorated with large windows that afford superb views over the town of Varese.
The venue is surrounded by a vast and beautiful garden, perfect for couples who want an

Day Five
Viscount di San Vito Castle
On the last day, we visited Visconti di San Vito Castle, a beautiful and imposing structure built in the 10th century in the Varese countryside.
It is perched atop a hill overlooking Varese and Lake Maggiore, offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside. San Vito castle is perfect for couples who want to be married in an impressive venue that exudes romance and history. The court has several rooms where you can host receptions, meetings, or other special occasions.
