Voted the best hotel in the UK by TripAdvisor, The Hari is a luxurious home away from home. Situated in beautiful Belgravia, it’s a few moments to Knightsbridge and just a short walk to Hyde Park.

The Hari opened its doors in 2016, having been previously known as Belgraves. An ode to the CEO’s father, there are many personal touches, including the Library bar to mirror his passion for reading and an Italian restaurant as a nod to his love of Italian food.

There is a gorgeous arty element to The Hari, with beautiful paintings adorning the walls. The hotel supports emerging artists as well, and artists in residence exhibit their work here. A student exhibition is hosted for those who missed out on final exhibitions due to lockdown.

Our arrival

We visited The Hari on a hot summer day, and the greenery and glass façade was a beautiful welcome. Had it been cooler, we may have been tempted to hop on a Hari bike and explore the area, but we couldn’t wait to enter through the wooden doors and into the cool lobby. The Hari has such a homely feel, it’s so welcoming, and the lobby’s huge chandelier lights a stylish, open space.

Francesca gave us a tour of the hotel before we went to our suite, explaining a little more about the hotel and showing us more of the artwork exhibited there and the hidden terrace and relaxing library bar, full of books and stunning artwork. The whole hotel has a real luxury feel but manages to retain that friendly feel as if you’d be welcome to sit and relax on any one of its sofas or chairs.

Our suite

With cool, dark and sultry corridors, opening the door to our suite was like a grand stage entrance! We knew we were in for a treat with beautiful wooden floors, a mirrored wall, and a glimpse into the bathroom. White marble surrounded the bathroom, with a dark marble floor and a bath right next to a huge picture window overlooking the trees, perfect for a relaxing soak with the divine-smelling Noble Isle luxury British toiletries.

Champagne was already on ice for us, and a chocolate cake just demanded to be tasted. Lighter than air, it was a spectacular welcome. Our daughter enjoyed icing her own biscuit left for her – a wonderful nod to the artistic element of the hotel to showcase her own artistry!

Dark grey curtains surrounded the bedroom, hiding a couple of secret nooks that were only exposed when drawing back the curtains. A dark red velvet sofa emerged and a sweet deck with its own window to the outside world. The suite was dark and calm, perfect for relaxing in for a bit before dinner.

Eating at The Hari

The hotel’s Italian restaurant is currently only open at the weekend. As we visited during the week, we dined at The Garden Terrace, with food prepared by the same chef, however. The Terrace is beautiful, perfect for a small, intimate wedding reception or a hen retreat.

The roof can be retracted and open to the sun or closed in colder months. We had the whole place to ourselves, enjoying some cocktails to begin our evening. A work of art in itself, my ‘Girl with a Red Balloon’ cocktail came in a bubble that popped to release smoke before I enjoyed the hibiscus infused gin and cranberry flavours.

The food was divine. We enjoyed some mixed Asian snacks to start; katsu prawns, dumplings, chicken yakitori, and spring rolls before my salmon teriyaki with pickled fennel, which was just delicious. A stunning cheesecake finished the meal perfectly, and a cute bulldog joined us in a yellow dress which came to say hello! Animals are welcome at The Hari, and it was so fun to meet this little friend!

Turndown at The Hari

With the curtains closed, the room felt cosy and welcoming, and we slept wonderfully on silken sheets and exquisite pillows.

Breakfast at The Hari

Breakfast was served in Il Pampero, the Italian restaurant. Il Pampero is the owner’s favourite racehorse, and leather bridles and equestrian equipment adorn the walls, and black and white designed tiles decorate the floor. It’s a gorgeous restaurant, and we were so pleased to get a chance to see it, although we’ll have to go back to sample the menu! We enjoyed a selection of full English and Continental breakfast treats before checking out.

The Hari have linked with Chelsea Town Hall, so you can say your vows close by before enjoying a stunning, intimate reception. Embodying their homely atmosphere, The Hari provide a small, private space for wedding receptions for 25 people. The Hari Garden Terrace is modern and stylish, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal there.
