AD|PR visit
We were so excited for this trip! At two years old, The Londoner is one of London’s newest hotels (Edwardian Hotels Group). Right in the middle of the West End, it sits within the southwest corner of Leicester Square and, with 16 floors, offers 350 rooms and suites, six restaurants, a wellness centre, two screening rooms and a rooftop terrace. It also features meeting spaces and a gorgeous ballroom.

Styled as the world’s first ‘Super Boutique Hotel’, the building is just amazing, British through and through, with blue tiles stretching up to meet the sky. What a fantastic first impression!
First Impressions of The Londoner Stylish and modern
The Londoner also manages to exude an air of calm, creating a tranquil refuge alongside the busy shops. Walking into reception, the décor was gorgeous, with a huge sun and moon, gifted from NASA, smiling down at us as our bags were whisked away and we were ushered to a plush sofa for check-in.

The art and design within the hotel are beautiful, with ironwork depicting two ladies in hats celebrating local millinery, elegant ceilings and a stunning bronze staircase with plenty more art to accompany the journey up; there was so much to take in.
Staying at The Londoner

Our suite was on the seventh floor, with a gorgeous blue door and glass handle, and once inside, our breath was taken away. More blue in the big bathroom with pretty tiles, a shower and a standalone bath, accompanied by Miller Harris toiletries – a London perfumer for a London hotel! The bath looked out over London, so you could enjoy views of the Shard, Big Ben and the London Eye as you relaxed in the tub.

A sweet touch to welcome us, opera glasses had been laid out to give a more detailed view of London whilst enjoying the complimentary champagne, bringing iconic London a little closer!

Relaxing at The Londoner
Straight to The Retreat is situated underground; however, it doesn’t feel like it’s below the ground, but rather like a beautiful Turkish bath house, with wooden panels, poolside cabanas and a stunning pool and pool and jacuzzi. Swimming in the middle of Leicester Square?!

But it felt like a million miles away! The sanctuary offers head-to-toe pampering with a hair salon, nail salon and a selection of treatments.
Dining at The Londoner

Time to eat, and we visited Whitcomb’s, a French restaurant offering some of the best food I’ve eaten! Sharing plates meant plenty for everyone, and the ambience was just lovely.

We were so well looked after by Barbara. A booth with soft blue cushions was the perfect place for our meal, and we enjoyed a signature cocktail before sampling dishes from the huge variety on the menu.

Tuna tartare, the softest Burrata, creamy lobster linguine and steak, delicious layered rosemary chips, gnocchi with tomatoes, a crème caramel and fresh beignets, and small doughnuts, with caramel and chocolate sauces for dessert. Just divine.

The highly knowledgeable sommelier offered recommendations for each dish, which was terrific, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Although I still couldn’t bring myself to try the snails, they do come highly recommended!

After such a delicious dinner, we wandered around the hotel, which had a gorgeous atmosphere, and took a trip to Joshua’s Tavern, with its whisky bar. As a whisky fan, it was just such fun to see the cabinets full of different whiskies, with the oldest sitting at 50 years old and £4,500 a shot. You can hire out the bar, which would be incredible for a groom’s night out with friends.

8 Restaurant Bars at The Londoner sits on the eighth floor, a decadent rooftop Japanese fusion bar with an eatery alongside a fire pit and DJ. It was bustling, and we enjoyed the views over London and the ambient vibe. It was such a lovely space, and we didn’t want to leave!

One floor down and we dragged our weary selves to our suite to sleep soundly before another beautiful dining experience at breakfast. Omelettes, fresh juices, fruits and more, we were in for a treat.
Weddings at The Londoner

There are many spaces for weddings, catering for intimate celebrations and the ballroom, which can accommodate up to 800 guests in the contemporary space. The hotel is a photographer’s paradise, with many backdrops for stage photos, beautiful carpets and incredible lighting. It’s all so impressive and definitely worth considering for a central London wedding.
Offering rich culture in the heart of the West End, we were so sad to leave, having enjoyed a wonderful experience throughout. We weren’t sure what to expect. However, this is a British luxury hotel at its best, understated, consistent service, and always on point – we were looked after so well.
My five 5 Star highlights:
- Whitcomb’s – lobster linguine to die for.
- The Retreat – poolside cabanas in the centre of London!
- The building – it’s simply awe-inspiring, with so many floors.
- Art and design – there were so many unique pieces, like a gorgeous gallery!
- Suite – modern, understated, but pure luxury, with incredible city views.
