This week’s real wedding was a fabulous Great Gatsby-inspired bash on Langkawi Island, Malaysia. The happy couple, Allison and Saimeng, had a breathtaking open air ceremony at the beachside Four Season resort, followed by a glitteringly glamorous reception at the Danna Hotel. The evening’s fun took place under a gorgeous transparent marquee, lit up from inside with chandeliers and candles. In keeping with the art deco theme, the finishing touches of the day were all in gold; from the invitations to the place settings and the plates themselves.
The tables were adorned with pearls, feathers, delicate pink and white floral arrangements, and tea lights in vintage glassware. Sweet, framed quotations by F Scott Fitzgerald were dotted around to remind guests of the literary genius whose words inspired such a sparkling event.
The couple were keen to document every special moment and element of their amazing wedding, and had a pre-wedding shoot at the Four Seasons. They also hired a painter from America to paint the wedding day as it happened! As the sun set on a day of perfect weather, Allison changed from her classic white gown into a floor length blush and gold sequined evening dress that Daisy Buchanan herself would covet, accessorised with a black boa and simple French netting hair piece. The happy couple took to the dance floor surrounded by friends and family, including several smart groomsmen in grey, and five bridesmaids in alternating gowns of lilac and peach.
