Review: Canary Riverside Plaza Hotel

A lovely location for a city wedding.

Lighting up the wharfs and quays of East London, Canary Riverside Plaza is a modern five-star independent hotel in Canary Wharf. We were invited to stay on a sunny day, to see just what they had to offer couples wanting a city wedding.

Review: Canary Riverside Plaza

The hotel was quiet on the day we visited, and it was just like a relaxing breath of fresh air, walking into the lobby with polished floors and high ceilings, a white and neutral palette providing a very calming escape from the city.

Our welcome was very warm, with a glass of prosecco greeting us, which we enjoyed on the terrace overlooking the sweet gardens and pool before being shown to our suite, which was spectacular.

Staying at Canary Riverside Plaza

With floor to ceiling windows overlooking the River Thames, we just had to stand for a minute to take it all in! This would be an excellent view for a proposal! The hotel organises a lot of proposal events, and I can see why, it’s a really gorgeous location, especially if you’re a city couple.

The River View Treatment suite at Canary Riverside Plaza

Having settled into our suite and enjoyed the treats left for us, it was time for a trip to the spa. Usually, spas are hidden deep in the basement of a hotel, to give you a sense of escaping from the world, but Canary Riverside Plaza’s treatment suite is thrown right up into the sky on the second floor, with stunning views over the river and so much natural light it is totally refreshing. I enjoyed a massage with a view – this would be ideal for a hen weekend or a quick city escape. The hotel also has a health club with a pool, gym, sauna and steam room, located adjacent to the main building.

Eating at Canary Riverside Plaza

Refreshed and revitalised, dinner was served for us at Quadrato Restaurant, where we were attended by the lovely Cataldo. The restaurant serves an Italian inspired menu, light and fresh and perfect for the sunny weather! They also serve afternoon tea, which would be a really fun girls afternoon or special treat before the big day. We were treated to an empty restaurant, so made the most of the relaxing quiet and enjoyed a really good meal. The food was delicious, service excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, a real retreat in the city!

Weddings at Canary Riverside Plaza

The hotel offers three wedding packages, which can be tailored to your requirements, and we would highly recommend booking some pre-wedding spa treatments as well! The ballroom is a really good size, with dark wood panelling that can be covered or customised according to your theme or palette. This would be a lovely location for a city wedding.
