Oatlands Park Hotel promises “elegance, comfort and style” within Tudor architecture that houses a rich royal history. A stunning Grade II listed historic country house in Weybridge, Surrey, it’s a lovely venue.

The hotel’s sweeping 10 acres were originally the site of a grand Tudor palace built by Henry VIII in 1538, and the estate counts Elizabeth I, James I and Charles I as residents. As we glided up the winding driveway, we started to realise why Oatlands was just so popular with royalty.

Welcome

The hotel has a beautiful atrium with a recently refurbished dome, so light streams in. The lobby was filled with floral displays and had sofas dotted about, it really was such a relaxing welcome!

We were met by Jack who escorted us to our room and gave us a little tour. With windows all round and a river view, it would be ideal to get ready for your wedding – your own palace!

Our suite

A luxurious bed, desk and sofa filled the suite, and with a welcome glass of champagne to enjoy, we relaxed in our room, looking out over the parkland. It was such a windy day, we didn’t venture out, but with so much beautiful space, it would be ideal for some gorgeous photography.

Weddings at Oatlands Park Hotel

Oatlands was hosting a wedding whilst we were there, so we were lucky enough to sneak a peek into the wedding room all set up for the occasion. The York Suite was set up for 100 guests, but can accommodate up to 420 for a drinks reception. You can also hire the whole hotel for exclusive use, which would be a delightful way to celebrate your wedding with friends and family.

Dinner

Dinner was in their restaurant, Mulberry, and we were looked after beautifully by Hassan. We had the place to ourselves, and enjoyed Thai fishcake, seabream and fragrant rice, followed by a beautiful vanilla crème brulee.

After a wonderful night’s sleep, breakfast saw us joined by the wedding party in a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

This really is a lovely venue where you could celebrate a hen do with afternoon tea, your wedding with family and friends and a first anniversary weekend away. The service is excellent, the grounds are beautiful and we had such a relaxing stay in the country.
