First things first, the dress. No-one does 1920’s style glamour for brides better than Jenny Packham. Think dropped waistlines, flattened busts, slinky, floaty silhouettes, flapper dresses and lace – these are all styles synonymous with the decade.

So you have picked the dress, now you need the hair to compliment the look. Short hair was ‘in’ back in the 1920’s after the long haired style of the Victorian ages. Finger waves, Marcel wave, shingle and bobs were all the styles of the decade.

What else do you think of when you say 1920’s wedding? We think head-dress! Cap styled veils a la Kate Moss and Lily Allen, bird-cage veils, flapper style headpiece, hair jewellery, feather fascinators, the list is endless.

The Art Deco movement saw styles focused on geometric and bold designs which influenced the decade’s jewellery. Pearl necklaces were also popular during this time. Remember, if you’re having a wow headpiece it’s better to go for simple understated jewellery. Just a ring or bracelet perhaps, too much and your guests won’t know where to look first!

With so many to choose from, you could decide to stay traditional and go with white bridal shoes or you could go for something different so guests get a peek of colour or sparkle under your gown.
