Say ‘I Do’ With Your Fabulous New Hair Do!

With the Royal Wedding firmly scripted into our calendars, 2011 is the perfect year to celebrate being a bride. The classic couture styles on the catwalk have heavily influenced key bridal looks this season. 50’s sophistication, complemented by the elegance of the ’60s, sees an apparent hair revival among brides-to-be.

Hair will be more structured but with a softer modern twist, moving away from the past few seasons’ less formal, relaxed looks. With a classic look, the brides’ photographs become timeless keepsakes that won’t date.

To achieve the 1950s vintage couture look adored by so many this year, take inch-thick sections from the front hairline, tong well, wrap the hair around the index finger and roll underneath. To add the finishing touch, grip either side up off the face creating a rolled vintage fringe and lacquer well. The bride can add volume, drama and glamour by experimenting with hairpieces, extensions or ornaments. Why not create a bouncy ponytail which has been seen everywhere, from the Golden Globes to the red carpet already this year?

Add extra hair for this effect if necessary, and brush the ponytail in small sections to keep the hair bouncy and natural. They can be soft or harsh, dramatic or gradual but are far from understated. The bob is back, and it’s beautifully bridal, especially when worn wavy.

Whether it’s a long bob or short, a wavy bob is easy to create and oh-so feminine for that special big day. Dry hair with lots of volume and tong well. Combine hair using only your fingers and roll under into the nape of the neck, grip to hold tight. Wear it with a glamorous tiara to complete the look; you should be picture-perfect!
