Nestled in the heart of Megeve and under the watchful gaze of Mont Blanc lies L’Alpaga, a luxurious gem from the esteemed Beaumier collection. More than just a hotel, it offers an idyllic alpine spa experience and culinary wonders that tantalize the senses. L’Alpaga hosted an exclusive wedding fair to unveil its offerings, opening its doors solely to select press members and premier wedding planners.

L'Alpaga, Megève: A Tapestry of Time and Tradition

This event promises to be a confluence of artistry, introducing attendees to the region’s finest suppliers—from brilliant florists to exquisite dressmakers and musical entertainers. Dive in with me as we explore this alpine wonder.

Enchantment of Megève’s History

Megève shines as a treasured gem in the shadow of Mont Blanc. Its history traces back to medieval times when cobbled streets echoed with tales of trade, craftsmanship, and mountain lore. The village transformed from a quiet farmer’s hamlet to a winter wonderland when the Rothschild family, enchanted by its beauty, decided to make Megève the French alternative to Switzerland’s St Moritz in the early 20th century. Thus began Megève’s journey as a skiing paradise and luxury retreat.

My journey began with an early flight from Heathrow Airport to Geneva Cointrin International Airport and to meet up with our driver and the other members on this FAM trip for an hour’s drive to L Alpage, Megeve. And as a travel enthusiast with a penchant for exquisite locales, I couldn’t wait to delve deep into its offerings.

The Arrival: Breathtaking Vistas and Warm Welcomes

The drive up to L’Alpaga was nothing short of mesmerizing. The sweeping views of the majestic mountains, their snow-capped peaks glistening under the sun, were a sight to behold. As we approached the resort, the elegant chalets greeted us with their traditional alpine architecture, harmoniously blending with the surrounding natural beauty.

The attentive and warm staff welcomed us, setting the tone for the luxury L’Alpaga is renowned for.

Accommodations: Where Tradition Meets Luxury

L’Alpaga boasts a range of accommodations that cater to every discerning traveller’s needs. There’s something for everyone, from cosy rooms to spacious suites and standalone chalets. My room, adorned with wooden interiors and plush furnishings, opened to a balcony that offered panoramic views of the alpine landscape. But what truly caught my attention was the level of detail that went into ensuring the guests’ comfort.

Every detail within L’Alpaga’s 33 rooms and suites is meticulously crafted. The awe-inspiring views of Mont-Blanc from the balcony, the soft touch of plush beddings, the ambient sounds of nature, and the inviting aroma of alpine freshness create an unparalleled experience.

Culinary Delights at Le Bistro: The morning’s journey cultivated a hearty appetite, and Le Bistro, L’Alpaga’s famed restaurant, was our chosen haven. Every dish told a story, a harmonious blend of traditional Alpine flavours and contemporary culinary techniques, providing a sumptuous mid-day reprieve.

The remainder of the afternoon was ours to enjoy. While some of us relaxed in our room, others, including myself, visited the spa. With the option to have a massage to help take your worries away.

A Charmed Evening in Megève Later that evening, we headed down to the town for a horse-drawn carriage tour. I loved the rhythmic clop-clop of the horse-drawn carriage, which created a timeless ambience. The village of Megève bathed in golden sunshine, with the evening breeze as we returned to L’Alpaga for evening aperitifs.

Evening Aperitifs: As evening approached, the bar beckoned. With a drink in hand, surrounded by the rich decor and the soft murmur of conversations, the ambience was perfect for reminiscing about the day’s adventures and the ones yet to come. The open fire was perfect for melting marshmallows and carefully created cocktails.

Day Two

After an excellent, deep, restful night’s sleep, I had a delightful breakfast and embarked on a comprehensive tour of the property’s accommodations.
