As I drove through the gates of the estate, through the long beech tree avenue, I could not wait to see what this hotel had to offer.

On arriving at the hotel, I was warmly greeted by a welcoming and attentive member of the Concierge team who pointed me to the reception desk. As soon as I stepped in the hotel the whole elegance and grandeur was breathtaking. The great hall has so many beautiful paintings, sculptures and tapestries which were all very striking.

After checking in I was escorted to my room for the night which was in the Mansion House, the 18th century centre piece of the Luton Hoo Estate.  As I walked  passed period armchairs under gleaming chandeliers I could really appreciate the upmarket quality of the place.

My room was exquisitely decorated and had some outstanding features such as silk lined and panelled walls, a marble fireplace and ornately decorated ceiling.  The suites are named after royalty and eminent persons that visited the estate during its lifetime.

My room had a very comfortable Queen sized bed, Molton Brown toiletries, robe, slippers, a huge bathroom and impressive views of the hotels grounds. I just loved the attention to detail with a warm welcome card from the hotel general manager and the most delicious handmade fudge.  I was sure I would have a most comfortable stay.

After quickly unpacking  I headed off to the spa. As I walked down to the lobby in my bathrobe and slippers, a member of staff asked if I would like to be taken to the spa.  I was so excited and took up the offer,  I remembered seeing a few black taxis at the front of the hotel.  When the member of staff pulled up on a golf buggy I was pleasantly surprised.  I hopped on the golf buggy in my bath robe all ready to visit the hotels 18 meter infinity swimming pool, vitality pool and heat therapy suite.

The Spa was in the country club the original stables that boasts has a 18 hole golf course and where you can find Adam’s Brasserie. When entering Adam’s Brasserie I was stuck by all the photographs from many famous films and TV shows which have been shot on location at the hotel. The world is not enough, eyes wide shut and four wedding and a funeral to name a few.

The Spa at Luton Hoo uses specially blended organic products that have been taken inspiration from the hotels historical gardens using Bay, Geranium, Bergamot, Camomile, Rosemary and Fennel Essential oils.

My treatment for the afternoon was Reiki Treatment, a Japanese healing treatment, to help calm the mind and emotions, promoting healing for both body and spirit. My treatment started with an aromatic foot bath to greet and refresh my feet, then I received additional energy work with crystals and the crystal I chose was actually given to me as my gift.   I can highly recommend Reiki to rebalance and renew your energy ready for your life’s journey as a newlywed!

Treatment Room In The Spa

After such a relaxing time at the spa it was soon time to go back to my room to change for dinner. My meal for the evening was in the Wernher restaurant, named after one of Luton Hoo’s most distinguished former owners Sir Julius Wernher. The restaurant was exquisite fine dinging at its best.  The restaurant has been sensitively resorted dining room and is considered one of the finest examples of the Beaux Arts style.  The tables had heavy silver cutlery, crisp white linen and fine bone china crockery, I knew I was in for a treat. With so many delicious elegant suggestions on the menu it was very difficult to choose. Here is what I decided to have:

  • Cannelloni of smoked chicken, sweet corn espuma, baby spinach, raisin puree and five spice popcorn
  • Risotto of courgette and morels with roast baby corn and violet chips.
  • Strawberries and cream, strawberry mouse, clotted cream ice cream wrapped in strawberry jelly, strawberry essence white chocolate foam and Eaton mess.

Luton Hoo is certainly one of the country’s finest 5 Star hotels, a must visit for pleasures and pastimes.
