Weddings At Maison Talbooth Review

Weddings At Maison Talbooth: My first impression on arriving at Maison Talbooth in Dedham in Colchester, was that it looked like a perfect relaxing rustic retreat. The hotel certainly had an air of relaxation and quality about it.

Maison Talbooth is in the Vale of Dedham in the countryside where the English romantic painter John Constable create some of his most treasures works of art.  Maison Talbooth is a Victorian country house which has a fantastic position overlooking the River Valley – from the distance, you can see the nearby medieval church in the Colchester countryside.

The reason for 5 Star Weddings invitation was to see and taste what Maison Talbooth has to offer brides and grooms looking for something just that bit different.

With 12 luxurious suites, all named after great poets, certainly gives you the WOW factor when you open the door and walk in to discover the beautifully decorated quintessentially  British decor. The hotel also has a Garden Room restaurant, a swimming pool with outside hot tub, pool house and tennis court.

Unfortunately, I did not have time to sample the relaxing massage, facial or manicure, and several other options at their new treatment rooms (now there’s an excuse to revisit if ever there was one).

I was taken to my room called Wordsworth, (all the rooms were named after poets, I spotted, Tennyson and Shelley) My room was wonderful, with a huge bed, on-suite bathroom and beautifully decorated I could not ask for more, with well stocked personal bars, Bose Sound Radio, CD, Television, Sky TV and free WiFi.

I had to rush as we (the other invited journalists) had a river boat tripped booked followed by a 4 Course meal at La Talbooth Restaurant.

Although it was raining, it was a journey along a beautiful river with just the sound of the engine and conversations on the history of Dedham. Sipping on glasses of the finest champagne on board the 324 Stour Trusty II see riverstourtrust.org for more info.

This is a trip that I would certainly recommend to newly weds, as they can take a short trip along the river while their guest can wait along the river bank and enjoy champagne and canapé reception.
