A Midsummer Nights Wedding

Designed, planned and styled by Emma Murray Jones

“The course of true love never did run smooth.”

(Lysander, Act 1 Scene 1, A Midsummer Night’s Dream)

A Midsummer Nights’ Wedding – 2020, a new year and decade, has been full of surprises. Little did anyone know what this year would have in store for us as the clocks worldwide chimed midnight.

As weddings globally have been postponed till next year or adapted to meet the guidelines put in place, luxury wedding planner Emma Murray-Jones curated a dream team of wedding suppliers, bringing them together to demonstrate the magic that can be created in your garden.

The Venue

Set in a beautiful English country garden, this was the ideal backdrop to create our fairytale wedding. By deliberately choosing an accessible venue, we wanted to show prospective Brides and Grooms that any space can be magically transformed – with a bit of imagination, hard work and fairy dust!

The Entrance

Every Bride should make a grand entrance on her big day.

Adding a playful yet elegant touch to this midsummer’s evening, Aurelija from The Balloonist inflated a pastel blue balloon arch – with a hint of lilac hydrangeas, as a sneak peek of the florals to come.

These balloons created the perfect entrance for the Wedding Party, both during the day and night, with up lighters in the evening to create a striking contrast.

The Ceremony

Walking down the snow-white aisle is many a bride’s dreams, with flickering storm lanterns to guide you towards the floral bower where your ceremony will take place.

With your faithful pup walking by your side, the ebony Maisy proudly carried the ring with an elegant floral garland by The Floral Editor.

“Lulled in these flowers with dances and delight.”

(Oberon, Act 2 Scene 1, A Midsummer Night’s Dream)

The Flowers & Tablescape

The talented Fi Burke, the founder of The Floral Editor, created three stunning arches that provided a floral backdrop for the ceremony and the tablescape.

For the wedding breakfast, the three arches encompassed the dinner table, cascading the heavenly scent of summer flowers and creating an intimate sense of warmth.

Focusing on a seasonal palette of blues, whites, blush pinks and lilacs, both the arches and the table arrangements complement the lush greenery and lavender of the garden. The purpose is to bring to life a bountiful wild meadow in perfect harmony with the added floral decor and styling.

The crystal vases and candlesticks, with matching lilac candles, reflected the evening sun and candlelight around the tablescape.

Tableware & Stationery

The cutlery and crockery, provided by Classic Crockery, in complementing pastel pinks and blues, added the finishing touch to the fairytale look. Standing out against the elegant white Louis chairs, crisp white tablecloths and napkins provided by Rosetone Furniture.

Begin the magical journey to your wedding day with bespoke invitations, which will give a hint of the style of the day to come. Matching stationery on your wedding day will ensure that you have a consistent theme throughout.

Midsummer Nights Wedding – The Cake

From Hall of Cakes, Nicola created a stunning seven-tier cake to be the focal centrepiece for the wedding breakfast table – rising from a sea of pastel colours. This breathtaking creation with handmade sugar flowers was the perfect design for this fairy tale evening. The sugar flowers are crafted with such skill that you almost can’t tell them apart from the real ones!
