1. Radhika, tell us a little about your journey — how did “Radhika & You” come to life?

Our love for weddings started long before Radhika & You was born. Growing up in large Indian families, we were surrounded by vibrant celebrations filled with colour, music, food, and togetherness — weddings have always been part of our lives.

Radhika’s background in marketing and corporate events, combined with her experience organising large celebrations in the South West since 2012, revealed her true passion for weddings. Shindy’s journey began as a teen, assisting as a videographer in his family’s business.

Realising our shared passion, we decided to create our own wedding planning company — one that reflects our unique approach and creativity. Inspired by weddings, travel, culture, and connection, we design and deliver unforgettable celebrations across the UK and worldwide, creating experiences as personal and meaningful as the couples we work with.

Our inspiration comes from what we know and love most. Coming from rich cultural backgrounds, we’ve always been captivated by the beauty of two worlds coming together — the traditions, rituals, colours, and stories that make each celebration meaningful.

At the same time, we saw a gap in the market for luxury experiences that prioritise quality, exceptional service, and professionalism. We wanted to create weddings that honour diverse cultures, while delivering elegance, care, and attention to detail — experiences that feel deeply personal yet effortlessly refined.

4. You’ve planned weddings across stunning destinations — what are some of your favourites, and what makes them special?

One of the joys of our work is creating unforgettable weddings in some of the world’s most stunning locations.

Türkiye is a firm favourite, with its incredible hospitality, diverse properties from luxurious resorts to boutique hideaways, and unforgettable culinary experiences. Greece has our hearts too — from Santorini and Mykonos to Rhodes, Crete, and beyond. Knowing the venues, suppliers, and local nuances allows us to craft celebrations that feel effortless yet extraordinary.

It’s the magic of seeing couples say “I do” against these breathtaking backdrops that makes every destination wedding truly unforgettable.

5. What does the planning process look like for your couples, from concept to celebration?

At Radhika & You, wedding planning is a journey we take alongside our couples from the first conversation to the big day.

We start by understanding their vision and defining a budget that feels right. From there, we help them find and secure the perfect venue and curate a team of suppliers to bring that vision to life.

Mood boards and design concepts allow us to weave their personalities into every detail — décor, styling, rentals, and colour palettes. Behind the scenes, we manage everything from floor plans and itineraries to the intricate logistics of the day, ensuring every moment flows seamlessly.

Every wedding is memorable because each one reflects the couple. We weave their personalities into every detail — from the mandap or bride’s grand entrance to the groom’s unique arrival, food experiences, and entertainment.

The most special part is seeing our couples genuinely happy, sharing smiles, laughter, and hugs as they thank us for bringing their vision to life.

7. How do you bring a couple’s personality and heritage into their celebration, especially across different cultures or locations?

It starts with truly getting to know them — their style, passions, and what makes them unique. We then incorporate those elements into décor, music, and the flow of events, so guests immediately feel the essence of the couple.

At the same time, we honour their heritage and traditions, understanding which rituals and customs are most meaningful. The result is a celebration where personalities shine while heritage is respected.

8. What trends are you seeing for 2026, particularly in luxury and destination weddings?

For 2026, the biggest trend is authenticity — couples are embracing what’s meaningful to them rather than following trends. Destination weddings are becoming more intimate, focusing on unforgettable experiences: exquisite food, thoughtful design, immersive entertainment, and meaningful moments.

Couples are choosing locations with personal significance, like a first holiday together or a destination with a rich local culture. Multi-day weddings remain popular, particularly in South Asian celebrations, and sustainability is increasingly important, with couples seeking elegant, eco-conscious solutions.

Design-led concepts, digital creativity, and subtle AI touches are adding a modern layer to destination weddings, keeping them both timeless and forward-thinking.

9. What’s one element that instantly elevates a wedding from beautiful to extraordinary?

A wedding becomes extraordinary when it feels truly personal. There is no doubt that after the chaos of 2020, postponed weddings, and socially distanced ceremonies with a handful of guests, 2022 shows once and for all that weddings are firmly back. It’s been a hectic year for all wedding suppliers, particularly wedding photographers. 

Wedding photography is essentially an unregulated business, so how does a couple choose from thousands of wedding photographers? 

Over the past 14 years, I have met thousands of couples planning their weddings, so I will attempt to spotlight what couples should be looking for when choosing a photographer.

You may already have an idea of what style of photography you like, but what sort of photos you hate is equally important. 

Couples always tend to tell me they want ‘natural’ photos and nothing too posed, but it’s important to really think about what this means. It’s rare, but not unknown, for couples to have no posed photos at all. Usually, couples want a small number of family groups photographed and some shots of them together as a couple in addition to the candid shots and natural reportage photos. 

What are the 3 main styles of wedding photography?

• Reportage photography, also known as photojournalistic or documentary photography, is all about capturing spontaneous moments or emotions in an unposed manner.
• Traditional wedding photography is primarily posed and directed, and captures family groups as a formal record of the day. 
• The contemporary style of wedding photography has more of a magazine editorial or fashion feel. 

My experience tells me that couples often want a blend of these three styles. Ultimately, you must be able to imagine yourself as a couple in the images you see from a particular photographer for it to be a good match. If you want 20 family groups, don’t pick a pure reportage photographer, for example. If you want candids and totally natural unposed images, don’t pick a photographer whose main style is traditional posed images.

Instagram can be a good place to view many photographers’ images to give you an overview. A good tip is to search for hashtags by your wedding venues, such as #HEDSORHOUSEWEDDING or #SAVOYWEDDING, and then start to check out the photographers whose images you love.

I would start with personal recommendations. If you know someone who got married recently (even better if it was at your wedding venue), ask them who photographed their wedding and if they were 100% happy with the images they received. If they were, then I’m sure they will be more than happy to show you their wedding photographs. 

Next is venue recommendations. A wedding venue will often have a curated list of photographers who work there regularly and know the venue well. It’s essential, however, to check when the last time the photographer photographed a wedding was, as some venues have lists of photographers they haven’t changed for years, or they just include photographers paying them a commission for being included in the recommended suppliers list. A quick check on Instagram or the photographer’s blog should hopefully show you the last images at the venue. However, this isn’t a hard and fast rule, as some busy photographers use only the quiet season to update their blogs.

Most, if not all, professional photographers will have a website (https://davidbostockphotography.co.uk/). This is a good way to view a snapshot of wedding images from them. Use your gut feeling to tell you if you want to spend more than 15 seconds on the photographer’s website. You will know which photographers’ images connect with you.

Once you have a shortlist of photographers you are considering photographing your wedding, it’s time to start probing to see if they fit you. Follow them on social media to get a feel for their latest images. I would advise having a shortlist of at least three photographers (possibly more) and then booking a face-to-face meeting with them or a Zoom call. You should ask if they photograph the weddings solo or with a second photographer. If they are a 2-photographer team, who is the other photographer? You want to ensure they use a qualified professional photographer as their second rather than an assistant with a camera or a trainee. Ask to see three full wedding galleries from start to finish, as you want to see all the final several hundred images the couple received, not just the photographers ‘best of’ picks on their blog. If a photographer doesn’t let you see all the final photos, it’s a potential red flag. Of course, it is critical that you like their personality and connect with them as they are a big part of your days and there with you and your guests for 8-10 hours on the average wedding day.

If you want it (and I would wholeheartedly suggest a couple does!), see if your photographer also offers wedding albums alongside their digital files. It breaks my heart to see a couple booking a digital file collection without a professionally designed wedding album. As the years pass, a wedding album goes up in emotional value. Every one of my clients has a wedding album included in their wedding collection.

Ask your photographer their backup policy if they cannot photograph your wedding on the wedding day.  What would they offer you as a backup plan?

Ask to see a copy of the wedding contract before you book your photographer. You don’t want any nasty surprises with payment dates down the line.

As a photographer who takes professional photography qualifications seriously, I always suggest couples consider using a wedding photographer who is qualified with the Master Photographers Association (MPA), the BIPP, or SWPP. The photographers will have their images scrutinised by other professional photographers to get their qualifications, and they must usually prove they hold professional insurance. 

I was honoured to have just been awarded my Fellowship in Wedding Photography from the Master Photographers Association, making me just 1 of just four wedding photographers in the UK to achieve this. I chose to submit images from weddings in the home counties and London. Whilst I shoot all photos in colour at my weddings on the latest Canon professional mirrorless cameras, I chose to make my final panel all black & white. I have a passion for monochrome images, although my clients get a mix of colour and black & white in their final edits from me.

• 5 Star Weddings: Where do you get your inspiration from?

GC Couture: Ideas are all around, whether it be from fashion, travel, or culture, I am constantly seeing new things and thinking about how I can translate what I see to a new cake design. Our current 2012 GC Couture collection is based on ‘Princesses of our time’, where I drew inspiration from the wedding dresses and the personalities of the likes of Princess Diana, Princess Margaret, and others, and translated these into cake designs.

The type of clients GC Couture attracts always tend to want a unique wedding cake, something that no other couple has had, so I am pretty lucky that our team can really push our creative boundaries and allow our imaginations to run wild to produce a cake that truly is unique and bespoke for our clients.

• 5 Star Weddings: What advice would you give to couples when it comes to choosing their wedding cake?

GC Couture: I would say to remember that when you go to your initial consultation with your cake designer, have an idea at the stage of the theme or the overall concept of your wedding. That way, your cake designer has something to work with. If you have seen ideas for cakes in magazines that you like, take note of them. Also, remember to tell your cake designer things that you don’t like in a wedding cake. The more information your cake designer has, the better.

More and more couples are choosing three or four different flavours and incorporating their unique flavour choices into the other tiers. That way, not only does your wedding cake satisfy the bride and groom’s taste buds, but it also offers an option for your guests. If you have a particular dietary or religious requirement, make sure you tell your cake designer this in the consultation as well, so they can accommodate your needs. Don’t be afraid to experiment; the consultation process is an opportunity to be creative, so don’t feel obligated to stick to a particular design if that’s not what you want.

Your cake designer is there not only to create magic but also to reassure you along the way. This can be done by getting you involved, by showing you sketches of cakes they have produced in the past. Finally, don’t forget the all-important cake tasting! There are so many flavour options available, so don’t automatically feel you have to opt for vanilla or chocolate. Experiment with different flavour combinations until you find the
Perfect one for you.

GC Couture: Of course! The cake should not only fit in with the style of your wedding but also your personality, and your cake designer will be able to find out during the consultation stage what your personality traits are and how these can be translated through to the wedding cake. You want to look back on your wedding cake in years to come and be able to identify that your wedding cake really was made for you and you only. Many couples are now taking this a step further and requesting a groom’s cake too, so both the bride and the groom have the chance to create something that’s really “them”.

• 5 Star Weddings: What common requests do you tend to receive from couples?

GC Couture: A lot of couples ask us if we can add top tier to eat themselves, rather than freeze or save for a christening. The rush of a wedding day can mean some couples never even have a proper slice of their wedding cake. It’s nice for them to be able to tuck in, in their own time, once the wedding is over.

• 5 Star Weddings: Have you provided your services for any high-profile weddings that you can share with us?

GC Couture: We provided the birthday cake in 2011 for Cheryl Cole and the birthday cake for Lisa Snowden’s birthday this year. We recently provided the wedding cake for Rochelle (The Saturdays) & Marvin (JLS), Danielle Lloyd & Jamie O’Hara’s wedding, as well as made a cake for Amanda Lamb.

• 5 Star Weddings: In your opinion, what makes a 5 Star wedding?

GC Couture: A 5-star wedding incorporates a few different elements. It’s not cookie-cutter. This doesn’t mean it has to be totally off-the-wall or unique, but a 5 star wedding is the kind of wedding where you can see that the couple has put thought into every detail and really injected their own personalities into it.

There are many ways to do luxury, and I think if a wedding has real soul and feeling, that’s the most important thing. I also believe that the bride and groom having a wonderful time makes a real difference to the experience of the day. After all, it’s their day, so watching them enjoy themselves makes the whole day much more exciting and emotional for everyone around them.

1. How long does it take to see results?

Consistency is key to seeing changes in your wedding-day body. It takes about 6 weeks of following a structured bridal workout plan to see significant results. Focus on strength training to tone up for your wedding, and add in 20-25 minutes of cardio to burn fat. Do a 40-minute brisk walk in the morning followed by a full-body workout and 20 minutes of cardio. If you can, spend 20 minutes in a sauna to get your skin glowing and feel refreshed.

Yes! Even the day before your wedding, you can do some quick exercises like squats and push-ups to tone your muscles. Stick to compound movements that work multiple muscle groups for maximum effect. Hydrate well and avoid foods that may cause bloating so you feel light and confident.

In the moments before you walk down the aisle, posture can make a big difference in how you carry yourself. Stand tall, pull your shoulders back, and engage your core by drawing your belly button in. 1. How did you begin your journey in the luxury event planning industry?

In early 2005, having previously worked in various junior roles in film and television production, I started working in events. I had the idea of starting a wedding planning firm. As I told people within the hospitality and events industry, I saw faces light up with interest. Yet on many occasions, I was advised not to go to weddings, as they weren’t profitable considering the time spent. Nonetheless, I looked into the marketplace over three months and spotted a gap in an untapped market.

Long story short, yes, I put in a lot of research, time and energy, but there was some luck on my side, namely with timing. Launching a wedding planning company today is much more harder due to there being so many.

2. Can you tell us about one of the stand-out wedding designs you have created?

I don’t have a favourite Niemierko wedding. They all stand out in their own right. Naturally, however, I’ve done some stand-out weddings over the years, from the Battersea Power Station wedding, when it was still a derelict site in September 2012, themed around the Beverly Hills Hotel. To the wedding of a previous bride’s sister at Battersea Evolution, where I had won an insane level of trust from the family to, within reason, do as I pleased.

From the stand-out black draped ceremony with no flowers, just candles and more, to a rustic but wow dinner. Course the palace wedding featuring the Belmond British Pullman, from orangery ceremony to dramatic dinner, dark pudding room and camp studio 54 after party. To the 5-day wedding starting midweek in London with a tea at the Ritz, a dinner at Daphne’s. All leading to a weekend on the Cliveden Estate. With a Friday event on the lawns of the bank of Thames, a Wimbledon tea before the ceremony. Then, the main event at Cliveden House from Corgis, vows with a view, to a lily of the valley dinner tablescape.

Having said all that, I think the more intimate, yet still wow, weddings I have planned and created will always stand out to me. From the time we hired the WHOLE of the British Museum for dinner for 17 post a simple registry wedding. I might add the first wedding at the museum. To a wedding with only 24 guests last year at the Wallace Collection. And that lush weekend wedding for just under 50 guests at my favourite country hotel, escape Lime Wood.

3. Where do you typically find inspiration when orchestrating a wedding?

Typically, there are two primary forms of inspiration. The couple. The venue. The couple naturally, without quizzing too much, who what where. What they love, are they loud, are they more reserved, and most importantly, know what they loathe – so I avoid and go down the correct route. But it could be a little nugget of info they mention in a planning meeting from a nickname or a funny story. I’m biting onto that tale and running to pin it to my mood boards.

The chosen venue massively influences me creatively. Like most of us, I’m a fan of interiors but also architecture. I like creating décor that looks at home in a space. Even though we’ve spent months creating it, I want it to look effortless to the guests.

Making an idea look like it belongs. Be it wallpaper, paint colour on the walls, or the gardens already in situ. I always tell my couples I’d love a guest to come back to the venue a week after, and with shock note, some of our added detail is no longer there. Creating to make something look at home is fulfilling.

4. What advice would you give to those starting in the wedding industry?

Be strong, value your time and don’t be afraid to bill for it. Research and bring something that’s not already there. Be organised, not just creative; no one can be an artist if they don’t know how to deliver it logistically.

And while, yes, the market is overly saturated, there are massive amounts of space—namely, as there are very few who are good at it.

Being a brand is my biggest tip. Many in the wedding industry make it all about them, with oversharing. Hold something back to create interest around your company.

5. What is your favourite part of working in the event planning industry?

The team. From the fundamental suppliers we work with, like the Wise Productions crew and Alison Price & Co catering team, to the talented musicians, porters, and delivery folk. I’d like to think there is no match for a Niemierko outmess due to the
hard-working, yet fun, people who fill it.

6. What are your go-to indulgences when you treat yourself, and how do you unwind and relax after a busy day?

Indulgences. A Fornasetti purchase, dinner at LPM, having everything and anything engraved with Niemierko from Not Another Bill, walking into the Apple store, and pretty much just handing over my AmEx.

Unwind at the end of the day. Cup of decaf tea (Yorkshire obv) whilst looking over interior magazines, or a Negroni or whiskey (Johnny Walker). I rarely go out in the evening. I’m more of a morning person.

7. What are your goals or aspirations for the future?

To own 5 dogs.

8. What is the best piece of advice you have been given?

You cannot please everyone, nor control what people will say about you.  With that, we are all a villain in someone else’s fairy-tale.

9. If you could invite any three people, living or dead, to a dinner party, who would you choose and why?

10. In your opinion, what makes a 5 Star Wedding?

A couple confident in being themselves, not being showy, with a massive focus on
the most essential ingredient… the guest.

What started with a friend’s request to plan her daughter’s engagement party has evolved into a flourishing career, marked by signature events that set trends and redefine standards in the industry.

Join me as I share insights from my journey, advise budding planners, and reveal the intricate details that make an event truly spectacular. Whether you’re an aspiring event planner or simply a lover of beautiful celebrations, there’s a wealth of creativity and inspiration in the transformative power of exceptional event design.

1. How did you begin your journey in the luxury event planning industry?

Well, believe it or not, it all happened accidentally. As a fashion designer, I used to host parties and dinners at my home that I designed and styled. Still, I never thought of it professionally until a friend approached me to plan her daughter’s engagement party. I was scared but very excited about the challenge, as I wanted to give the guests a unique experience to remember. I have never looked back since.

2. Can you tell us about one of the stand-out wedding designs you have created?

One of the standout wedding designs I’ve had the privilege to create was a very personal event for me – my daughter’s engagement party in 2017. Dubbed the “Circus of Love,” this event marked a significant turning point for MY Event Design for several reasons.

Collaborating closely with my daughter, we were free to unleash our creativity without any constraints, resulting in a truly memorable and unique celebration. The event was an immersive experience from start to finish, meticulously crafted to tell a captivating story and delight guests at every turn.

From extravagant decorations and elaborate installations to vibrant colours and bold prints, every detail was carefully customized to create a sense of wonder and excitement.

Entertainment played a pivotal role, with a lineup of acts including emotional performances, roaming magicians, saxophonists, a party band, and renowned singers, ensuring there was never a dull moment.

One of the highlights was the buffet area, named “La Dolce Vita”, in homage to the Italian lifestyle and Dolce & Gabbana market. Guests entered through a creative dessert table tunnel, leading them to marquee-sign-adorned food corners offering a variety of delicious treats.

A standout feature was the dramatic dining table, stretching the length of the venue and adorned with exquisite tablescapes, floral installations, and hanging industrial circus lamps. Butlers attended to guests, providing personalized service and enhancing the luxurious dining experience.

This event wowed guests, celebrated my daughter’s love story, and set a new trend in the event planning industry. The innovative ideas and creative concepts introduced at the Circus of Love became sought-after elements in subsequent events, marking a turning point in my career as an event designer.

3. Where do you typically find inspiration when orchestrating a wedding?

My inspiration comes from everything around me: nature, travelling, home décor fairs, interior design, fashion shows, concerts and festivals, music videos, Met Galas, and last but not least, petite social media platforms such as Instagram and Pinterest. Everything visually beautiful inspires me to create events. Thanks to my experience in my retail shop, I still get inspiration from the fashion designers I work with.

Matthew Williamson instilled a love for vibrant colours and bold prints. Moschino taught me the art of thinking outside conventional boundaries. Dolce & Gabbana’s celebration of La Dolce Vita resonates deeply in my work. Balmain’s sharp, sculptural outlines inspire precision and elegance. Roberto Cavalli’s unparalleled use of animal prints remains a timeless muse. Icons like Dior, Bureau Betak, and Gucci, among countless others, have been invaluable mentors, laying the foundation for my transition into event design and wedding planning.

4. What advice would you give to those starting in the wedding industry?

Dream big, work hard and make it happen! Believe in your abilities and nurture your creativity through continuous practice and exploration.

While drawing inspiration from weddings around you is valuable, don’t limit yourself. Look to diverse fields such as fashion, home decor, and other sources of beauty for fresh ideas.

Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. Regardless of your current level of success, stay humble and driven, knowing there’s always room for improvement. Never settle into complacency.

Cultivate innovation and pay attention to even the most minor details. The meticulous touches often elevate an event from ordinary to extraordinary.

Patience is vital in the inherently stressful realm of event planning. Stay composed and resilient, knowing that patience and perseverance will ultimately lead to success.

5. What is your favourite part of working in the event planning industry?

My favourite aspect of working in the event planning industry is turning vision into reality.

6. What are your go-to indulgences when you treat yourself, and how do you unwind and relax after a busy day?

There’s something comforting and satisfying about indulging in a rich piece of chocolate after a long day. As for unwinding and relaxing, I find scrolling down on Instagram or Pinterest incredibly soothing. Browsing through beautiful images and inspiring content helps me decompress and recharge, allowing me to unwind and clear my mind after a busy day.

7. What are your goals or aspirations for the future?

Create a Book of Creative Work: I aim to compile a comprehensive book showcasing my past and future event designs. This book will serve as a visual journey through my creative process, featuring photographs, sketches, and anecdotes that capture the essence of each event.

It will be a testament to my artistic vision and a source of inspiration for others in the event design industry.

Establish a Concept Store with a Twist: I envision creating a concept store that offers a unique and immersive shopping experience. Beyond simply selling products, this store will reflect my creativity and aesthetic sensibilities. I plan to infuse it with elements that surprise and delight customers, such as curated collections inspired by my event designs, collaborations with emerging artists, and interactive installations that engage visitors on a deeper level. By reimagining the traditional concept store model, I hope to create a space that sparks imagination and fosters connection among customers and creators alike.

8. What is the most valuable advice you have been given?

“He who truly seeks shall find.” It conveys that you will achieve your goals if you put in genuine effort and work hard.

9. If you could invite any three people, living or dead, to a dinner party, who would you choose and why?”

I would choose my late mother, Her Majesty Queen Rania and Lady Gaga. I would invite my mother, who passed away, to share this special moment with me. I miss my mother dearly as time flew by too quickly, and I didn’t get enough of her. I would have loved to spoil her and share with her the achievements I’ve accomplished.

Though she is no longer with us, her love, guidance, and presence influence me daily. Having her at
the table would be a cherished opportunity to reminisce, celebrate her life, and feel her spirit. Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan embodies grace, intelligence, and compassion. Her presence would undoubtedly enrich the conversation and inspire us all with her wisdom and perspective. Lady Gaga is an incredibly talented musician and performer and a fearless advocate for self-expression and acceptance. Her vibrant personality and unique insights would add a special spark to the evening.

Together, these three remarkable women represent strength, resilience, and compassion. Their diverse perspectives and experiences would create an unforgettable dinner party filled with laughter, inspiration, and meaningful connections.

10. In your opinion, what makes a 5 Star Wedding?

In my perspective, a 5-star wedding is characterized by its ability to engage all five senses, creating a multi-dimensional experience that immerses guests in luxury and refinement:

Sight: Every detail, from the venue’s grandeur to the intricate design of the décor, delights the eyes and creates an ambience of unparalleled elegance.

Sound: A carefully curated selection of music, live performances, and ambient sounds
sets the tone for each moment, ensuring that every note enhances the atmosphere of
celebration and joy.

Touch: Luxurious fabrics, plush furnishings, and thoughtful tactile elements invite guests to immerse themselves fully in the comfort and opulence of the occasion.

Taste: Culinary masterpieces, expertly crafted cocktails, and decadent desserts tantalize the palate, offering a symphony of flavours that reflect the couple’s unique tastes and preferences.

Smell: Fragrant florals, scented candles, and delectable aromas from the cuisine awaken the senses, infusing the air with romance and enchantment.

By harmonizing these sensory elements, a 5-star wedding creates a multi-dimensional
experience that captivates guests and leaves a lasting impression of luxury, sophistication, and sheer delight.
