Rather than directing the couple through carefully staged poses, Suma allowed the experience to unfold organically. They wandered through Paris without a rigid itinerary, moving between museums, streets and small cafés, pausing when something caught their attention, continuing when the mood shifted, discovering moments instead of performing them. What emerges from this approach is not merely a portrait of Paris itself, but something far more intimate: a portrait of presence, of two people inhabiting the same space while the vast architecture of the city quietly expands around them.

When a group of wedding professionals collaborate with an iconic London hotel, amazing things will happen.

This luxury-styled shoot was set in the Biltmore Hotel Mayfair, a 5-star luxury hotel in the heart of London’s Mayfair district. Over the years, the hotel has seen many transformations and many occupants. Oscar Wilde, the Bentley Boys, and many celebrities are counted among their number. The Biltmore comprised the perfect location in which a dedicated group of wedding professionals could create a modern, inspirational setting that exuded luxury, sophistication, and style.

Setting the scene

It was essential to create a setting that reflected the hotel’s elegance. Fabulous Functions UK, based in the Cotswolds and specialising in timeless, elegant floral designs, set about creating the concept and colour palette for the table settings.

To create a setting that was both fresh and contemporary yet the height of elegance, Sandra designed a serpentine table setting with florals in a palette of tangerine and butter yellow through white to lilac. She created small arrangements in the colour scheme in an ombre style, meandering along the centre of the table. Florals were also placed on the floor to generate interest and add texture to the setting.

We partnered with William of Wedding Metal Art Prop Hire. A talented artist, William creates the most incredible and beautiful metal structures. He provided the half-moon arches from which we suspended our floral chandeliers above the tables; we designed them to mirror the ombre colour used in the floral designs on the tables.

Then we repeated this theme in the concept for the stationery. Anna is the creative talent behind the luxury wedding stationers, Evelyn and Elliot Wedding Stationery. She designed the guest’s name cards in a half-moon form on seeded paper and featured the guest’s names, the wedding date, venue and the menu. A lot of information on a guest place card, you may think. But Anna accomplished the task with aplomb, embellishing the place cards with silken tassels in the ombre colour scheme. Creating the stationery suite on seeded paper that one can plant in one’s garden makes a beautiful guest memento.

Photography and film

It was our pleasure to work with Stuart Wood of Stuart Wood Weddings, whose trademark fine-art style of photography was perfect for capturing the beauty of the venue and the grace and elegance of our model bride and groom.

And Adam of Creative Spark Films lived up to the name, producing a beautiful and memorable recording of the shoot.

He wanted to capture everything at the Biltmore Hotel using natural light wherever possible – often a challenge in the English winter! He made sure to expose for the highlights to give a darker and more cinematic look. That helped to elevate the footage to give a more mysterious, yet elegant vibe. Doing so also allowed him to focus the viewer’s eyes on the jewellery and dress detailing whilst maintaining flattering angles for our gorgeous models.

The Cake

What is a wedding without cake? And they can come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Claire and Dan of Peboryon are internationally renowned cake artists and are sought after for their luxury wedding and event cakes and sweet treats. This incredible duo creates visual feasts of delicious flavours to delight your palate and eyes. So it was a real treat for us to have them as part of the fantastic team on this styled shoot at the Biltmore.

Diamonds

Diamonds are elegant, timeless and beautiful. And Nina of HP Diamonds, a family-owned jewellery house with a deep passion for exceptional diamonds and craftsmanship, HP Diamond Jewellery specialises in exquisite and rare diamonds and gemstones, creating bespoke pieces that seamlessly blend luxury with artistry.

Featured in the shoot, Lumière is a celebration of light and elegance, showcasing three stunning pieces: a ring, necklace, and earrings, crafted with colourless 2.5 carat marquise-shaped diamonds and tapered baguettes. The marquise, known for its elongated form and regal heritage, symbolises elegance, ambition, and brilliance.

The Lumière collection is designed with sleek, geometric lines. Each piece enhances the diamonds’ natural radiance, providing a perfect blend of classic design and modern sophistication.

Our model bride wore several headpieces created by the ultra-talented Jayne at Camille Lux Accessories. Every piece that leaves Jayne’s atelier is hand-crafted and personalised for her clients. Make-up and hair

Johanna of Johanna Villarreal Brides, our hair stylist, and Bev of Makeupology Brides, our make-up artist worked, seamlessly together to create Estelle’s flawless look for this shoot. They produced subtle makeup that enhanced Estelle’s natural beauty and dark, glossy curls. They put our model at ease and created for her a look of timeless elegance, full of glamour.

Johanna created a soft cushion of curls on which to nestle the beautiful headpieces created by Camille Accessories.

Sian of Shimmering Ivory, designer of exquisite bespoke wedding gowns and bridal couture, provided our model bride with her beautiful gown featuring delicate lace appliqué, gorgeous beading, and Swarovski crystals.

As a couture designer specialising in bridal wear, each tailor-made couture gown used the finest French laces and luxury silks. All adorned with detailed embroidery and embellishments of Swarovski crystals and pearls to stunning effect. Your gown becomes part of your beautiful wedding journey.

Dianne Hassall, designer and creator of bespoke bridal footwear, creates beautiful shoes for the bride who wants to stand out and stay true to the romance and elegance of their special day. Di provided a pair of stunning, soft, white toned shoes with delicate petal appliqué adorned with pearls and secured with a silk ribbon.

The Groom

All eyes on the bride! But let’s not forget we have our groom! Brigden’s of Derby provided his attire: an elegant Wilvorst navy blue dinner jacket with a matching waistcoat and trousers. Completing the groom’s sartorial statement was a modern twist – a black tie and the florals in the form of a pocket square in the colour palette of the bridal bouquet.

Tableware and table linen

The hotel supplied the tableware. It featured their muted silver-toned charger plates complemented by their cutlery and glassware.

Allen’s Hire supplied the Kew range of linen. The silver-grey range formed the foundation for the table setting.

Collaborating with a talented team that loves what they do ensured the success of this shoot. It was a team effort from the first flourish of the makeup brush and the tilt of the model’s head to the flicker of the candlelight to the last click of the camera’s shutter.

The bride, embodying Venus herself, wore two enchanting dresses that perfectly balanced tradition with a sense of fresh playfulness. A stunning three-layered cake, designed in the shape of a pearl, took center stage, exuding sophistication and artistry. Each dish and drink was carefully crafted to reflect the colors and textures of the famous artwork.

Further enhancing the theme, beautiful invitations were designed to echo the fluidity and grace of the Birth of Venus. Soft, flowing elements in the design created a seamless link between the artwork’s ethereal beauty and the celebration of love.

The 2023 Autumn RSVP Wedding Symposium in Venice brought together the elite of the wedding & event industry. The meeting of global wedding creatives Photographer Stuart Wood, Luxury Wedding & Event Planner Sonia Petrazzi, and International Wedding & Event Videographer Emma Wilson of Story Of Your Day led to the collaboration of a very special project.

With the backdrop of the most beautiful city in the world, the team wanted to celebrate the San Clemente Palace Kempinski being ranked #1 top hotel in Venice by no less than Conde Nast in their Readers’ Choice Awards.

Stuart Wood says, ‘What started out with a crazy idea over lunch grew into this major endeavour, which only goes to show that collaborating with like-minded people and genuine teamwork can bring the very best out of us all. I just knew that my photography would rise to the challenge when we got going and that with the calibre of those around me, I would never settle for anything less than the very best from myself’.

So a luxury styled shoot was planned for early 2024 and this would include an assembled cast of truly world-class suppliers, all of whom excel in their fields.

One of those world-class suppliers that made up a vital part of the team is Italian handmade album manufacturer Graphistudio.

Based only an hour from Venice, it was decided that their luxury product would be perfect for the project. In a world that is increasingly digital only and where viewing pictures from a screen is the norm, the tangible act of viewing exquisitely printed pictures placed within their renowned plush and ultra-slick designed albums would only ever enhance the photography.

Jeremy Price, MD of Graphistudio UK, says, ‘The wedding album becomes a family heirloom and the only thing that truly increases in value to couples long after the wedding is over. Creating this stunning bespoke album for our Venice collaboration gave us a chance to really show how photographs can be appreciated, as they are meant to be wrapped up in the finest of Italian leathers and linens with heritage Italian printing to complement all the amazing facets of this event.

The chosen filmmaker for the project was Swiss-based Wedding Videographer Emma Wilson of Story Of Your Day. Having someone so experienced at filming destination weddings & events with an outstanding reputation in the wedding industry was crucial to ensure a styled shoot film that did not simply mimic the photography, but was unique and different enough to enrich it and rightly sit alongside it.

Emma Wilson says, ‘It’s been a while since I have filmed a styled shoot but the location and fabulous suppliers involved made it an easy decision. I wanted my film to look and feel more like a luxury elopement rather than a traditional styled shoot film.  So I decided to make a film that wasn’t a ‘Behind The Scenes’ but instead captured the real essence of Venice and the stunning venue.’

It was decided that the project would need two days to shoot the images and the film. The first day was based on the private island of San Clemente, which concentrated on the hotel and its own historical church, with the second day shooting generic images of the couple Irene and Marco around Venice itself.

For the wedding dresses, leading Haute Couturier Sian Hughes Cooke, founder of Shimmering Ivory, was invited to present her newest collection.

Sian says, ‘Venice would always be a perfect backdrop to showcase our ethereal Shimmering Ivory couture designs. We selected a sheer pure white oversized floral embroidered corset & oversized skirt, the epitome of elegant and modern sophistication. Perfect for the garden of the San Clemente Kempinski.

For the old town of Venice, we chose a blue silk ruffle oversize dress inspired by the sea. This looked stunning against the city’s iconic canals. We also featured a sleeker look for the gondola and bridges of Venice with a stunning French lace and embroidery dress that really created the perfect Venetian look.

The logistics of planning and organising all of the suppliers and then getting them out to the island and around the city on time and for all of this to work together so flawlessly could undoubtedly become a whole article on its own. Still, without any doubt whatsoever, this venture could never have happened without the impeccable skills of Sonia Petrazzi and her team. Sonia has worked at the very highest level for over three decades on luxury weddings and events, not only in Venice but all over Italy, Europe, and South America.

Sonia says, ‘I have a deep affection for this enchanting city that I know inside out. Venice never fails to surprise me, offering a constant stream of new discoveries.

We aimed to showcase the beauty of the city and the Island of San Clemente with Hotel Kempinski. The collaboration was fantastic.

Alongside local Venetian suppliers, florists, and designers, we meticulously brought every detail to life. Drawing inspiration from Venice’s natural allure, the floral arrangements boasted a soft pastel palette and lush greenery, infusing a whimsical romantic ambience into the venue.

It is indeed a further testament to the calibre of the assembled team that they attracted the likes of Bella Belle shoes and Fregoli Haute Couture handbags, which perfectly accessorise the imagery.
