We haven’t quite tired of this year’s Pantone colour of the year yet! Greenery is so fresh and versatile; there are countless ways to incorporate the tone into your beautiful wedding day.

One of our planners, Paolo Cicognani, recently created a gorgeous style shoot at The Abbey of San Pietro in Valle, captured by photographer Alessandro Mari and videographer Thomas de Lorenzo, and we couldn’t wait to share these amazing shots to spark some inspiration for you.

The Theme

Green chic style with an abundance of romance was the inspiration for the shoot, and the serenity and peace of the location definitely helped to achieve that. Beautiful harmony with nature, far removed from the stresses of life, the monastery and its panoramic gardens exuded a natural charm.

The Location

Walking through the panoramic garden at The Abbey of San Pietro, you’re greeted with incredible views over the valley that only improve with a beautiful Umbrian sunset. Fading lights blending with the landscape and disappearing behind the mountains – this really is a perfect wedding location.

The Decor

Fresh white lace made the green pop, with a natural wooden table from Apollinare Catering, complementing the natural wedding look perfectly. Fresh white chairs tied the decor together, matching the white tones and keeping the colour palette fresh, light and gorgeous! Gold-edged plates with matching cutlery were accessorised with beautiful hexagonal menus from Giulia Barabani, adding interest to a table with natural shapes and textures.

The Flowers

With a theme of greenery chic, the flowers by Paola Carletti kept with the concept. Pure crisp and clean white daisies, dahlias and rose blooms sat with delicate gypsophila and chamomile. Olive branches, green hydrangea, viburnum leaves and green foliage wrapped around the flowers to create a truly eye-catching display.

The Bride and Groom

The couple were immaculately dressed in outfits from Moda Sposi Atelier, with hair and makeup by Beatrice Pagnottini. Wearing a simple and elegant wedding gown, the bride’s Greek-style dress was heavily beaded with pretty, sparkling embellishment. The dropped neckline and matching back stretched to the sparkling waistband, and beautiful earrings and cuff bracelet from Euforia Bijoux complemented the outfit perfectly. A striking blue tuxedo provided a splash of colour to the day. A silver waistcoat and pure white silk tie lifted the ensemble and matched the silver tones in the bride’s dress beautifully.

The Cake

A greenery theme needs a gorgeous greenery cake, and this creation by Cinzia Maturi is the ideal centrepiece. With a simple topper and fresh flowers surrounding the wedding cake, a semi-naked option is a perfect choice for a natural wedding theme – the cake is as natural as the theme!

1. Tall

Go easy on this one – as I mentioned, it’s no good blocking everyone’s view! So how do you do tall and impressive without taking over the table?! I think using clear accessories is a good idea. Being able to see through and around should ensure no one’s view is blocked, and it lifts the decoration off the table to make sure it doesn’t feel cluttered or over-full.

2. Wild

I love a wild flower display – it throws a little chaos into the prim and proper starched white-wedding-world. Wild table displays mean that each will be unique and different. I love the idea of creating similar displays for each table, but with different flowers for each. A little less structured, but no less beautiful. Alternatively, go really wild with succulents or cacti – super fun!

3. Candles

Who doesn’t love a candle?! Using candles of different heights will create a really pretty display whilst still ensuring no view is blocked by enormous candle creations! Mix it up with a flower/candle combo, just as long as the flowers are far enough away not to catch fire! And crystals can be a stunning addition, sparkling gently in the flickering candlelight.

4. Greenery

I adore the combination of crisp white linen and fresh greenery. Perfect for an outdoor wedding or a relaxed dinner with banquet tables, a lush green runner creates a gorgeous effect. Using a single material such as foliage really ties the décor together, and works perfectly if your colour palette is hues of green!

5. Edible

Now this is a bit of fun, and you might end up at the end of the night with no centrepieces left, but how sustainable is that?! Saving waste by eating the centrepieces! I love it! Strawberry trees are fun, as are impressive fruit creations and cupcake bouquets, or just a bowl of coloured sweets. Alternatively, how about an ice sculpture for each table with fruit or flowers suspended inside? Not quite edible, but there’ll be no waste as it’ll gently melt away through the evening.

Cutty Sark in Greenwich recently hosted a stunning wedding-style shoot, beautifully blending historical grandeur with contemporary elegance. The theme was centred around a classic black-and-white colour scheme, reflecting the sleek architecture of the Dry Berth. Gold accents were integrated to highlight the ship’s copper hull, adding a touch of glamour to the setting. 

Cutty Sark, the world’s last surviving tea clipper, is an unparalleled testament to maritime history and an extraordinary space that redefines the event experience. Majestically docked in Greenwich since the 1950s, this 19th-century sailing ship offers a blend of historical grandeur and contemporary sophistication, creating an unparalleled setting for your special day. Stepping aboard is like embarking on a time-travelling journey back to Victorian elegance.  

Our bride wore a graceful ball gown from Victoria’s Bridal Boutique. The dress featured a floral brocade fabric, a modern square neckline, and a low back. A matching belt defined the natural waist, complete with covered buttons extending to the end of the train.

The final touch was a pearl headband perfectly complementing the beautiful necklace and earrings from COO Jewellers. She carried a stunning multi-height hand-tied bouquet of white roses and delicate white sweet peas to add texture.  

Following the monochrome theme, our groom wore a classic black ‘Benetti’ tuxedo from Bennetts Menswear. 

Elegant Venice mirrored dining tables from Options Greathire ran underneath, reflecting the ship’s hull with black Victoria Ghost chairs adding a contemporary touch. Gold-beaded charger plates, elegant glassware with gold detailing and gold cutlery elevated the table setting.

Each place setting was completed with a black napkin and a contemporary black and white menu card from ByBlossom Stationery, and it was finished with a long trailing black satin bow. 

Royal Museums Greenwich’s accredited events and weddings caterer, Food Show suggested an exquisite sample wedding breakfast menu from their Spring Summer Collection. Welcoming guests with botanical Avant-Garden cocktails or chilled fizz accompanied by a selection of delectable canapes, including meat-free options such as Black pepper shortbread, goat cheese, candy pecan & caramelised fig and vegan Risotto primavera – asparagus, broad bean, pea & mint, along with Harissa marinated chicken skewers & lime crème fraiche, Crisp salt cod croquettes, garlic & dill dipping sauce and Food Show’s signature canape – Aged steak & chips, warm bearnaise.

Once seated, guests would enjoy a starter of Nutbourne tomatoes, compressed summer peach, stracciatella, black garlic tuile, and basil, followed by Organic Rhug Estate rump of lamb, potato terrine, olive caramel, seasonal baby veg, jus or the vegan option of Wild mushroom and truffle pithivier, wilted greens, baby courgette, ‘parmesan’ snow.

To finish, guests would be served Tonka bean-infused chocolate tart, coconut tuille, raspberry sorbet or delightful vegan option, Pina colada panna cotta, lime macerated pineapple, coconut clusters, and rum sorbet. 

Chic Weddings & Events’ floral arrangements were a focal point, featuring tall centrepieces filled with blousy white roses, hydrangeas, and peonies, complemented by trailing Phalaenopsis orchids in tall statement vases.  A mix of bud vases holding single stems of flowers runs through the centre of the table, creating depth and variation. The end of the table, a focal point as guests enter, was finished with a show-stopping cascading arrangement with twinkling candles that added a magical touch. 

Inspired by the sleek lines of the ship’s hull and the industrial look of the dry dock, the cake created by Shelley’s Cakes featured a tall, elegant design iced in white. It was softened with iced stencilling echoing the detailing on the wedding dress and finished with an oversized black chiffon bow and tails, mirroring the elegance of the tablescape. 

A freestanding contemporary table plan was added to the look. It featured a gorgeous fresh floral arrangement at the base, which was finished with candles. 

This shoot at Cutty Sark showcased how timeless romance and modern sophistication can seamlessly combine to create a breathtakingly beautiful wedding setting.

This choice was not arbitrary; it was a deliberate nod to the French aristocracy’s regal charm and refined aesthetics, evoking an atmosphere filled with nobility and enchantment.

The inspiration for this editorial was deeply rooted in the opulent visual storytelling of “Marie Antoinette,” bringing to life a dreamlike and audaciously splendid setting. The grandiosity of oversized blooms defined the ambience, creating a bold statement that was visually striking and deeply symbolic of nature’s lavish bounty. These elements were juxtaposed with the delicate interplay of rich, high-end fashion, crafting an editorial narrative that was as daring as elegant.

Our floral designs celebrate the natural world’s awe-inspiring beauty at the cusp of spring. We endeavoured to capture this fleeting beauty within the majestic confines of Hawkstone Hall, enhancing its already splendid atmosphere. The selection of British-grown tulips, anemones, and hellebores was not merely about their visual appeal but a tribute to the intricate beauty of nature. Each arrangement was carefully crafted, focusing on detail, texture, and scent to create a multi-sensory experience that would linger in the memory of all who beheld it.

The fashion narrative of this editorial was carefully curated to echo the themes of French romance and couture elegance. Gowns adorned with voluminous bows and billowing tulle were more than just garments; they were a testament to the artistry and elegance of high fashion. These pieces, characterised by their couture craftsmanship, added an element of French romance, weaving a visual narrative that seamlessly bridged the bold with the delicate.

As the editorial unfolded, it became a celebration of love, style, and the rejuvenating spirit of spring. Each frame captured the essence of springtime, not just through the visual elements but through the emotions they evoked.

The result was a visual feast that celebrated the beauty of love, the elegance of spring, and the timeless charm of the French aristocracy, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who experienced it. This was not just an editorial; it was a journey through the heart of spring, guided by the legacy of Marie Antoinette and the unending beauty of love and nature.

1. Could you share how you began your journey in the luxury floral & design industry?

My journey in the luxury floral and design industry began with a spark of inspiration from articles about weddings in newspapers. As an aeronautical engineering graduate, I found myself drawn to the intricate interplay of flowers, drapes, and lighting.

This fascination blossomed into a passion for event styling, leading me to found Teddy Manuel Flowers and Events. Over two decades, I’ve had the honor of serving esteemed clients, including corporate leaders and celebrities, with extravagant and breathtaking designs.

2. Can you tell us about one of the stand-out wedding designs you have created?

One of the standout wedding designs I crafted was a Filipino-themed celebration. We showcased the rich heritage through traditional textiles like “banig” and “Solihiya.” The venue bloomed with native flowers like Sampaguita and orchids, echoing our tropical landscapes. It was a vibrant tribute to our heritage, celebrating love and unity in true Filipino style. Link

3. Where do you typically find inspiration when designing a wedding?

Inspiration for designing a wedding can be found everywhere, from nature’s delicate balance to art’s boundless creativity. I draw inspiration from the couple’s love story, personalities, and vision for their special day.

It’s about infusing their essence into every detail, creating a celebration that resonates with their unique journey.

4. What advice would you give to those starting in the wedding industry?

My advice for those starting in the wedding industry is to embrace your passion wholeheartedly. Dedication, originality, and attention to detail are key ingredients for success. Keep learning, stay true to your vision, and always prioritize the client’s dreams and aspirations.

5. What is your favourite part of working in the wedding and event industry?

My favourite part of working in the wedding and event industry is witnessing the sheer joy and happiness on my client’s faces. Being entrusted with bringing their dreams to life is incredibly rewarding.

Every event is a blank canvas, filled with endless possibilities waiting to be explored and crafted into unforgettable memories.

6. What are your go-to indulgences when you treat yourself, and how do you unwind and relax after a busy day?

My go-to indulgences when I treat myself include immersing myself in different cultures through travel, indulging in culinary delights, and savouring moments of quiet reflection. After a busy day, I unwind by surrounding myself with loved ones, indulging in leisurely activities, and finding solace in the beauty of nature.

7. What are your goals or aspirations for the future?

In the coming years, I aim to enhance the stature of Teddy Manuel Flowers and Events, extending our influence nationally and internationally.

My vision involves persistently pushing creative limits and sculpting immersive experiences that resonate with clients and guests. Additionally, I look forward to conducting annual masterclasses and workshops, nurturing aspiring stylists to bring out their best in the dynamic world of event styling.

8. What is the best piece of advice you have been given?

The best piece of advice I’ve been given is to always stay true to myself and my vision. Throughout my journey as an event stylist, I’ve encountered numerous challenges and opportunities, but I’ve learned that authenticity is key to success.

By remaining true to my passion, values, and creative instincts, I’ve been able to carve out a unique path in the industry and create experiences that resonate with clients and guests alike. This advice has served as my guiding light, empowering me to navigate the complexities of the industry while staying grounded in my purpose.

9. If you could invite any three people, living or dead, to a dinner party, who would you choose and why?

If I could invite any three people to a dinner party, I would choose Leonardo da Vinci for his unparalleled creativity, Coco Chanel for her revolutionary influence in design, and Audrey Hepburn for her timeless elegance and humanitarian spirit.

Moreover, I would also extend an honorary invitation to my late mother, my greatest supporter and source of strength, whose presence would enrich the evening with love and cherished memories. Their diverse perspectives and remarkable achievements would make for captivating conversations and unforgettable memories.

10. In your opinion, what makes a 5 Star Wedding?

In my opinion, a 5-star wedding is characterized by meticulous attention to detail, seamless execution, and an atmosphere of pure magic and romance. It’s about creating an immersive experience where every element, from the venue decor to the culinary delights, exceeds expectations and leaves guests.
