Luxury country hotel, golf, and spa estate, Matfen Hall, will be hosting a wedding showcase on Sunday 19^th February between 1-3 pm. The historic Northumberland venue is a popular choice for couples wishing to say their vows in a grand yet intimate setting and desire to show them all it has to offer.

Displaying the key features and locations of your wedding day, including the Great Hall, the Morning Room, Needham, and the Vault Bar, as well as our Great Hall Suites, the showcase will allow you and your significant other to get a taste of what your magical day could be. Our dedicated wedding team will be on hand to assist with any queries on the day and, should you select Matfen Hall as your venue, every step of the way until you depart for your honeymoon.

The Complete Wedding Experience, designed for 60 guests, offers everything you need for your special day. After your ceremony, whilst our pianist performs a live set, a Champagne and canape reception in the historic Great Hall will set the tone for the luxurious festivities ahead. The Wedding Breakfast will follow in our decadent Morning Room, the perfect setting thanks to its magnificent decor and views across Matfen Park and Le Jardin Hollandaise. Once speeches have taken place, guests will be invited down into the Vault Bar for a night of jubilation, whilst Needham is also available for those who prefer a quieter end to the festivities.

Being one of the top fashion capitals of the world, it was only right that visitors were able to sit alongside the runway and be amongst the first to view some of the latest collections from world-renowned brands and designers.

Maggie Sottero Designs, Morilee, Ronald Joyce, and Savin London each hosted private Fashion Shows, showcasing their stunning designs and allowing retailers to get a better look at the gowns up close and personal. The Bridal Week London preview shows were also a hit with retailers as nine brands hit the catwalk. These included Bibiana Cabello, Dando London, Ellis Bridals, Evie Young, Kate Fearnley, Lily London, Madi Lane, Seren Moda, and Shikoba Bride. The designs looked stunning thanks to our wonderful models, alongside The Perfect Bridal Company for providing veils and shoes, Jupon Limited for providing headdresses, Propress Steamers for steaming all runway dresses, and MG Hair & Makeup. A huge thanks go to Vicky and her team at SKIN London for putting on a fabulous production that wowed the crowds.

Trends from the Runway

Trend 1 – Sleeves

One of the biggest trends from this year’s runway was its variety of statement sleeves. Ellis, Seren Moda and Morilee were just some of the brands featuring an array of stunning sleeve options with their gowns.

This is an incredibly popular trend at the moment, providing stunning shape, volume, texture and drama, and giving brides multiple options for how they choose to create their wedding day look. Taking inspiration from regency fashion, Ellis Bridals’ structured puff sleeve featured delicate beaded embellishment and balanced out the gown’s deep V-neckline.

The bishop balloon sleeve also made an appearance on this year’s runway, where Morilee’s sheer sleeves added an ethereal and whimsical touch to their A-line dress. Seren Moda’s dropped lace sleeves were a romantic addition to the classic mermaid style, that softly draped from the bodice to highlight the decolletage.

Trend 2 – Bohemian

The catwalk also played host to some bohemian-inspired gowns. Kate Fearnley’s use of tasselled sleeves and lace made this simple and sleek silhouette a stand-out design on this year’s runway.

This Shikoba Bride gown embodied the relaxed and whimsical bohemian bride, adding layers of crocheted lace, fringing and scalloped trim. Bibiana Cabello contemporary silhouette with a relaxed, floating skirt was injected with a boho twist of ruffle cuff sleeves and broderie anglaise style seams.

Trend 3 – Colour

Shaking up the traditional white colour palette of bridal gowns, pops of colour also made an appearance this year. Each of White Gallery’s SAVIN London and It Was All A Dream gowns were tied together with a stunning exploration of floral colours, and each was finished with hand-painted colour detail.

Ronald Joyce graced the runway with a blue, sweetheart-neckline ballgown, adorned with bright pink floral embellishment and a matching sheer cape. Maggie Sottero’s satin scarlet ballgown, complete with a ruched bodice and delicate straps, caught every eye and made a bold statement on this year’s runway.

Trend 4 – High-leg splits

It was hard to miss the high-leg splits making their appearance on this year’s runway, as Dando London, Maggie Sottero and SAVIN London each chose to add this flirty element to some of their more traditional silhouettes. Paired with a fitted lace bodice, the slit in Maggie Sottero’s gown complemented its elegant femininity.

SAVIN London showcased a stunning satin gown, complete with one shoulder floral applique and high split, making for a dress that feels demure with a hint of sexy. Dando London brought a slinky, spaghetti strap gown adorned with head to toe embellishment, that certainly wowed the crowd with a super thigh-high slit.

Trend 5 – Structured bodices and corsetry

Exposed corsetry has made a big comeback on the catwalk this year, adding a vintage and couture quality to traditional bridal designs. Seren Moda, Bibiana Cabello and Madi Lane are just some of the brands that highlighted visible bodice structure.

Bibiana Cabello’s high-necked gown mimicked a bustier with well-placed, intricate crochet applique, Seren Moda’s romantic fishtail silhouette was complemented by a deep, angular neckline and exposed corsetry, and Madi Lane’s contemporary sweetheart gown was complete with structured corset lines to cinch the waist.

Here’s what you can expect to discover at the show:

Oversized Embellishment

One of the many unmissable trends from London Bridal Fashion Week incorporating White Gallery is oversized embellishment. Designers aren’t shy of covering gowns with bold accents, with the use of feathered skirts, 3D flowers and bows featuring prominently in many collections.

Feathered skirts offer a stylish edge while remaining subtle, and this is evident in Pronovias’ Risuena gown. The marvellous mermaid gown radiates elegance, while the feathered skirt creates a feminine look. Ronald Joyce’s gowns also feature the oversized embellishment trend with many of the designs including 3D flowers. Bows can be found in Savin London’s designs and are a statement piece for fashion-forward, confident bride.

Detailed Embroidery

Another key trend we expect to see is detailed embroidery. Leading brands will be showcasing this trend throughout their collections, including a selection of Phoenix Gowns dresses that have stunning star details and Beside Couture by Gemy designs that feature intricate fabric work.

Simple Silhouettes

Minimalism at its finest, many designers have chosen satin and simple detailing in their designs. Elbeth Gillis’, Luminescence Collection features many satin wedding gowns. Another designer bringing the simple silhouettes trend to White Gallery 2019 is Theia. With simple detailing in many of their gowns, they show that sometimes less, is in fact, more.

Two-in-One Looks

We anticipate the two-in-one trend to take the bridal world by storm this spring. Showcasing several two-in-one looks are designers such as Peony Rice and Savannah Miller. This new trend is perfect fashion-forward brides who love to stay in style.

Jumpsuits

Wedding jumpsuits are here to stay and this year seeing even more brands including Ronald Joyce, E&W Couture and Justin Alexander adding this look to their portfolio. Making a statement on your wedding day or breaking traditions is easy with this trend. These designers have created stunning jumpsuits that are the definition of elegance and sophistication.

We always love seeing the new collections and influences on bridal fashion, so we can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us.

Whilst bridal fashion will always retain an element of tradition, with its beautiful dresses, elegant ballgowns and white lace, we’ve seen that fashion has had a major influence of brides who are passionate about trends, or lean towards the alternative. London Bridal Fashion Week’s name change demonstrates their commitment to champion that fashion element within the bridal industry.

White Gallery

For the second year in a row, London Bridal Fashion Week will incorporate luxury bridal buying event White Gallery, meaning retailers will be able to shop from manufacturers and high-end designers all under one roof.

We’ll see all the major players in the bridal industry in attendance, from Alan Hannah to Demetrios, Maggie Sottero to Watters and everything in between. You can see a full list of exhibitors and more information here.

Fun themes

The 2019 event will celebrate the best of British, with some exciting themed features. A garden party inspired Champagne bar, a fun vintage themed cocktail bar and a sweet traditional afternoon tea room VIP lounge await guests as well as even more business advice clinics and a larger seminar theatre to squeeze even more guests into to gather pearls of wisdom from the best in the business.
