Here\u2019s a few things we\u2019ve discovered to keep your earthly impact small, but still go big on luxury!<\/p>\n

1. Keep it local<\/h3>\n

This is an obvious one, but there are so many wonderful luxury venues and suppliers around the country, ask your wedding planner to help you source locally to the venue. Local produce, flowers, and even UK bridal designers all reduce air miles as well as supporting local businesses. And there\u2019s no scrimping on luxury, you just need to be selective about your choices. Picking a venue with great green credentials will be a real help. And search for dress designers that agree with your low-impact vision.<\/p>\n

2. Make it ethical<\/h3>\n

How can you personalise your day? What says \u2018You\u2019 as a couple? Make favours personal, rather than mass-produced run of the mill. Be mindful about where and how things are produced, you can find local artisans who source ethical and eco friendly materials to create beautiful luxury candles, confectionery and body products, and I love a sweet personalised succulent plant to take home and care for! Make it something that’s not going to be instantly disposable, and that can be used, with no wastage.<\/p>\n

3. Let it be ‘Done For You’<\/h3>\n

Low impact doesn\u2019t have to be about getting your aunt\u2019s cousin\u2019s best friend to make all the wine (although that could be fun!), low impact is about your mindset and finding ways of reducing your carbon footprint in clever ways. Instead of DIY, think DFY \u2013 Done For You. You can still have beautiful hand-made stationery \u2013 locally sourced and produced \u2013 but made by an artist, rather than yourself. You can still have gorgeous flowers, but make sure you go seasonal, and locally grown, designed by a local expert. Keep this mindset, and you\u2019ll get all the luxury with a lower impact.<\/p>\n

4. Keep it sustainable<\/h3>\n

Now, I think we all know that we may be lacking diamond mines in the UK\u2026 Sustainable wedding rings are a tricky topic. Heirloom and antique rings are a great alternative and can be beautifully unique. I love wondering about the history of my heirloom engagement ring. Also, different metals are becoming more common. Tough titanium and tungsten are created with fewer resources than gold, and are just as beautiful.<\/p>\n

5. There are ways to compromise!<\/h3>\n

When it comes to your wedding, it’s definitely a day for no regrets! So if you\u2019ve dreamed of a beautiful destination wedding, and your heart is set on it, then why not reduce the impact and combine it with your honeymoon? And don\u2019t fly the entire world out there, then you can have a massive local celebration once you\u2019re home. Good excuse for another party! Or flip it on its head – keep really local for your wedding, and fly just the two of you out to have a private ceremony before starting your honeymoon.<\/p>\n
