The Hyatt Regency London honours Sir Winston Churchill, with many nods to him throughout the d\u00e9cor and design details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped columns-1 wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Quintessentially British, the hotel is located in Portman Square, overlooking Portman Square Garden and close to Marble Arch and Oxford Street \u2013 a great central London location, but perfectly tucked away. The hotel was purpose-built and opened in 1970 as The Churchill. It has welcomed many notable politicians, including Barack Obama and Tony Blair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Our_arrival\"><\/span>Our arrival<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The doors opened to a beautiful modern lobby &#8211; elegant, calming and bright with a grand piano, grey marble floors, a high ceiling and white panelling. Our Regency Suite looked out over Portman Square Gardens with a beautiful balcony. Fresh flowers welcomed us to the bright and elegant room, with Molten Brown toiletries in the bathroom and a lovely walk-in shower. Photos can be taken in the stunning Portman Square Gardens, conveniently located close by. The rooms are classically elegant, with two spaces to choose from. Locanda Locatelli is a Michelin-starred restaurant with an Italian-inspired menu. There are hints of Churchill everywhere, with lots of Churchill-inspired d\u00e9cor adorning the walls and a love letter from Churchill to his wife featured as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The food was delicious. Executive chef Roger Olsson uses fresh seasonal produce, and Peter looked after us beautifully. We shared rosemary sourdough, then crispy waffles topped with caviar and delicious crab served as appetisers. Our main was Scottish lobster \u2013 sweet and succulent with the most delicious Marie rose mayonnaise and rosemary fries. Baked vanilla cheesecake with mixed berries rounded our meal off perfectly, and we relaxed, soaking in the atmosphere.
