- Advice from Cranberry Blue\" src=\"https:\/\/5starweddingdirectory.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/384_photo_30538.jpg\" alt=\"Is a Venue Coordinator the same as a Wedding Planner?\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/5starweddingdirectory.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/384_photo_30538.jpg 800w, https:\/\/5starweddingdirectory.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/384_photo_30538-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/5starweddingdirectory.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/384_photo_30538-150x113.jpg 150w, https:\/\/5starweddingdirectory.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/384_photo_30538-709x532.jpg 709w, https:\/\/5starweddingdirectory.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/384_photo_30538-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/5starweddingdirectory.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/384_photo_30538-86x64.jpg 86w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/noscript> IMAGE: Roberta Facchini<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3>So is a Venue Coordinator the same as a Wedding Planner?<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;The short answer is \u2018no\u2019.\u00a0 We often hear couples say that their venue has its own \u2018Wedding Planner\u2019, when in fact what they mean is a \u2018Wedding Coordinator\u2019, which while being a very important role is, in fact, very different.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;We\u2019re lucky enough to work in partnership with some of the best venues across the country, and while a Venue Co-Ordinator may be able to provide support in some areas, if you\u2019re looking to have a complex celebration with bespoke support across every aspect of the planning process then an independent planner maybe a better choice for you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;It\u2019s important to say that most of the Venue Co-ordinators we work with are excellent and we work very closely with them to ensure they have all the required information they need to manage the venue responsibilities, whilst working as a team to ensure the day runs like clockwork.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So what is the difference?<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a Nut Shell\u2026<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Venue Coordinator<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Venue Coordinators work for the venue in which they are employed and their main role is to liaise with the bride and groom and the on-site operations team.\u00a0 They will work closely with you on the areas that specifically relate to the venue such as showcasing the space, menu tasting and ensuring the venue\u2019s payments are made on time.\u00a0 The reality is that most venues host a large number of events (not just weddings) a year so it\u2019s physically impossible for them to hand-hold you through the process of planning a wedding as we do, as they simply don\u2019t have time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;On the wedding day itself, their responsibility is to provide the service that they are contracted to, such as ensuring the venue is set up correctly (tables, chairs and place settings), the drinks and food are served on time and suppliers vacate the premises at the allotted time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;It\u2019s also worth remembering that a Venue Coordinator often leaves after the meal is served.\u00a0 Although they would hand over to an Operations Manager on-site, their main interest will be to finalise service and manage the bar, whereas a Planner is there solely for you to deal with whatever is required, right up until the end of the night.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_179297\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-179297\" style=\"width: 870px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-179297 size-full\" title=\" Advice from Cranberry Blue\" src=\"https:\/\/5starweddingdirectory.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/384_photo_30533.jpg\" alt=\"Is a Venue Coordinator the same as a Wedding Planner?
