If you want to try your hand at contouring, the first place to start is with a good base. If you\u2019re planning on using a liquid bronzer and highlighter, it\u2019s best to use a liquid foundation, likewise with cream or powder \u2013 although, you can get away with powder bronzer if you\u2019ve used a powder to set your foundation. Once I\u2019m all prepped and primed (that\u2019s a post for another day\u2026) I\u2019d choose something smooth and flawless, like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harrods.com\/product\/luminous-silk-foundation\/giorgio-armani-beauty\/b12-0804-033-ARM-203\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Georgio Armani\u2019s Luminous Silk Foundation<\/strong><\/a> or, for a softer and more natural look, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harrods.com\/product\/light-wonder-foundation\/charlotte-tilbury\/b12-0804-033-CHARTIL-014\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Charlotte Tilbury\u2019s Light Wonder Foundation<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Choosing your Contouring Products<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Next, select your contouring products carefully, based on your skin tone or the tone of your preferred foundation. Cooler-toned products can look \u2018dirty\u2019 on warmer skin tones, and vice-versa. Note how the two Charlotte Tilbury contour palettes below are completely different tones! I personally love the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harrods.com\/product\/bronzing-powder\/bobbi-brown\/b12-0804-028-BB-0115\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harrods.com\/product\/diorskin-nude-tan-matte\/dior\/b12-0804-028-DIOR-524\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Diorskin Nude Tan Matte<\/a> as both of these products have a soft to medium warmth, and are both matte, leaving a flawless finish.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Highlighters will not only add to the contour effect, they\u2019ll add a little extra shine to your look, too. Choose one with a gold shimmer for warmer tones, like this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harrods.com\/product\/shimmer-brick-compact\/bobbi-brown\/b12-0804-034-BB-0107\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick<\/a> or silver or blue-tinted highlighter for cooler tones, like this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harrods.com\/product\/meteorites-compact\/guerlain\/b12-0804-041-GUE-468\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">M\u00e9t\u00e9orites Compact<\/a> from Guerlain.<\/p>\n<p>Concealer, like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harrods.com\/product\/touche-eclat\/yves-saint-laurent\/b12-0804-029-YSL-0085\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yves Saint Laurent\u2019s Touch\u00e9 \u00c9clat<\/a> is often used to highlight when creams products are being used \u2013 this allows for greater coverage and the ability to blend \u2013 but feel free to use your gorgeous shimmery powders once all the harsh lines have been blended away.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Creating Shadows and Highlights for a slimmer face<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Contouring, as I previously mentioned, is to give depth to the face. This involves darkening the parts of the face you wish to detract attention from, and highlighting the parts you wish to, well, highlight! Bronzer is typically applied to 4 key areas \u2013 the underside of the cheekbone, the side of the nose, the jawline, and the top \u201ccorners\u201d of the forehead. Darkening these areas makes the face appear smaller, and more chiselled.
