Welcome

A royal palace on the Thames

Hampton Court Palace is the Tudor and Baroque palace of Cardinal Wolsey and Henry VIII on the Thames in Surrey, hired for weddings in the Garden Room, the Little Banqueting House or, by evening exclusive hire, the Great Hall.

Cardinal Wolsey began the palace around 1515, Henry VIII enlarged it, and Sir Christopher Wren added the Baroque wings for William III and Mary II. Historic Royal Palaces, a charity, now looks after it and hires it for weddings and events.

Three ways to marry

The Garden Room is a 1920s orangery in its own walled garden, and the Little Banqueting House is a Baroque pavilion over the river with ceilings painted by Antonio Verrio. For a wedding on the largest scale, evening exclusive hire opens the medieval Great Hall beneath its hammerbeam roof.
