After a seven-year restoration, The Orangery at Kensington Palace is set to reopen in Spring 2024 and will once again take centre stage as one of London’s most elegant wedding destinations. The Orangery has been closed since 2017 to undergo a significant restoration project to conserve the building’s interior and exterior and upgrade many of the facilities, undertaken by Historic Royal Palaces, the independent charity that cares for Kensington Palace.
Set within the grounds of Kensington Palace, The Orangery is a true gem of English architecture, which possesses a timeless charm that has captivated the hearts of many couples. With its breathtakingly beautiful surroundings, including lush green lawns and views of the palace, The Orangery offers an elegant location in the heart of central London. Be it the south-facing sunlit terrace or the private lawns, capable of accommodating tipi-style tents to elevate drinks receptions, every inch of this stunning venue offers the perfect backdrop for a special day for up to 160 guests.
The Orangery boasts a rich history dating back to 1704 when it was built by Nicholas Hawksmoor – a leading figure of the English Baroque style of architecture.
Initially commissioned by Queen Anne as an elaborate greenhouse for her orange trees, this building was also used for royal entertainment when it became a ‘summer supper house’. Since then, The Orangery has remained one of London’s most luxurious venues, offering guests an opulent and classic feel and its rich history. With a limited number of events allowed to take place at Kensington Palace each year, The Orangery truly is the ultimate symbol of exclusivity and prestige for the discerning couple’s wedding celebration.
This is for couples who would love to follow in the footsteps of royalty and choose one of the most exclusive venues in London to host their special day.
The Orangery is the ideal location to say, “I do.” The Orangery can be used as a stand-alone venue for ceremonies, wedding receptions and evening entertainment and in conjunction with the Palace’s State Apartments.
