Prior to the company’s launch Abigail was an Event Manager for a Luxury Wedding Venue in Staffordshire. Later on in life Abigail moved to Manchester, and has since planned global events for several luxury brands such as; LV, ITV, Halo Furnishings and UGG Australia. Abigail has also crafted lavish, private celebrations for ultra-high-net-worth individuals from Monaco to
the Middle East.

Abigail is a lecturer at The Event Academy in London and gives inspiring students her knowledge of the industry. The Event Academy has over 80 years experience and offers the UK’s only CIM accredited event management courses.

At Abigail Lucy we welcome couples of all cultures, we have experience planning/designing multi-cultural weddings from Jewish, Persian to Iraqi. Learning about other countries traditions and religions is something we are incredibly passionate about and absolutely love to do. We promote a professional conduct within the industry and we never accept commission in any form.

We only take on a very limited number of weddings per year which means we can give each of our couples our full focus and deliver a really exclusive, attentive experience.

FAQ's.

1). Why do I need a wedding planner if my venue has a coordinator? 

Most venues will have an in house event co-ordinator. This is a massive help for you, when it comes to all things venue related, and are certainly very useful as a ‘go-to’ point of contact for us. An in house co-ordinator will not be on hand to advise about every detail, you will find that they will most likely only be on site for a couple of hours on your wedding day. In house coordinators roles are more sales than creative, therefore they do not tend you have any involvement in design or styling - but they can probably recommend some good suppliers should you need.

I think the biggest benefit to hiring a wedding planner is that you have one main point of contact for everything, who will bring together all the aspects of your day. They will inherit any stress, challenges or logistical problems you may face in the planning process, which will really take the pressure off you.

They can design, style and advise. As well as ensuring everything runs smoothly on the day with a carefully planned schedule of timings for everyone involved. By comparison it is important to note that in house event coordinators are not responsible for managing the planning process and supplier bookings ahead of the wedding day. They are also not responsible for any budget management. 


2). How do you plan my destination wedding, if you are in England?

Our clients come from all over the world, not just England. For our initial consultation we would always meet with the client in person, if this was not possible due to location, then we would communicate plans with our clients through Skype, email and telephone conversations.  Regardless of where our couple is in the world, we really take the time to build a relationship with them, to get to know and understand them individually, just as we would a UK couple.

This same concept applies when we are working with international venues and suppliers.

If we are working with a new, unfamiliar international venue, we would arrange a viewing date with yourselves which best suits.

I do attend international weddings for on the day management, if my clients desire. Travel cost occurs.

3). Where do you plan weddings?

We plan weddings and events all over. We have so far planned/hosted celebrations in Italy, Dubai, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Venice, Paris, Iran, Amsterdam and Frankfurt.

We are based in Manchester, England but we are always happy to travel as far as our clients require, as are many of our recommended suppliers. 

4). If I want to host a pre/wedding reception can you assist?

Absolutely! Of course we can! One of the best things about having a destination wedding is that it becomes more than just a ‘day’ celebration, so a pre/post wedding celebration is always something we recommend to ensure you really make the best of the time you have together with your family and friends.



5). Do you only work with certain venues and suppliers?

No, when you come to us with your enquiry and a venue of interest, if it is not one we have worked with before - we would arrange a visit to familiarise ourself with the venue and build a relationship with one of the venues event coordinators to ensure if you do work with us, we can do the best job possible for you.

It is your wedding day and we are solely here to help you, so of course if you have preferences on venues/suppliers you want to use then we will work with them on your behalf. However, we do have a list of recommended suppliers. These are those who we have worked with previously and have build strong relationships with. The benefits to using our recommended suppliers is that we can get you the very best prices, we can be 100% sure of the quality and standard of their services - which means we can trust them to deliver a high level luxury service.

If we know of any reason why not to work with a certain supplier, we would always let you know upfront.

6). Do you have public liability insurance?

Yes, we are both company and VAT registered and do have public liability insurance. Our policy number is; CABI1503327XB.

7). Do you have a team that works alongside you? 

Yes, I do. The team of staff which would attend your wedding day would dependent entirely on the size and scale of your wedding. For smaller weddings, I would tend to bring one member of staff along with me for the day and work closely with the venues own staff. 

In regards to the planning and design process this would only ever be me.

8). Will you be at my wedding?

Wedding planning is a very personal service, so I work closely with each and everyone of my couples to ensure I am with them every step of the way. I offer clients as much or a little assistance as they require, my services are tailored entirely to your needs. If you for any reason do not require me to attend on the wedding day this is absolutely fine, in this instance I would make direct arrangements with the venue to ensure all of my plans have been received and understood by their staff members.

9). Is there a minimum budget that you work with?

Yes, and No. As mention we do tailor all of our services entirely to your needs. However, the service and standard of work in which we deliver is luxury. Therefore your expectations and requirements must be realistically inline with your budget for us to be able to accommodate. We will certainly always try our best.

We do have a minimum fee for our services. This can be found in our wedding brochure. (please email to request a copy)


10). How much do you charge?

When planning a wedding, we need to understand your expectations and requirements. Every couple is different, so we cannot give a quotation without having had an initial consultation. To give a basic guideline we charge on a percentage basis. 

However, we do have a set rate for our on the day management service and this is £850.00 + VAT, you can find more information about what this service includes in our brochure (please email us to request a copy).
