Welcome

The Old Palace

Hatfield House has two licensed wedding venues in its Hertfordshire grounds, the Grade I listed Old Palace, which seats 280 at a banquet, and the Riding School, which seats 100.

A 15th-century royal banqueting hall that Henry VIII acquired in 1538 as a home for his children. Elizabeth I learnt in its grounds that she had become Queen and held her first Council of State in the great hall, whose timbered ceiling and medieval brickwork frame the day. The Old Palace seats 280 at a banquet and holds 350 standing.
