Welcome

A fortified village with a long history

Castel Monastero is a walled medieval village in the Chianti hills near Siena, with a Michelin-starred restaurant, a spa and a piazza for ceremonies and dinners.

The castle is first recorded under the name Sarna in 1044. It later belonged to a branch of the Berardenghi family and to the Commune of Siena, and was bought by the noble Sienese Chigi Saracini family as a country house. The village has been restored as a resort within its original walls.
