Kent-grown Hop bines, traditionally used in beer, have been experiencing a recent renaissance, in the form of ornamental use as marquee decoration at weddings and events.

Versatile, cost-effective, and beautifully striking, The Hop Shop’s bushy, green, 3 metre long garlands, are used around church entrances or inside marquees, old barns and fashionable tips to create an informal rustic atmosphere. They can usefully cover unsightly structures, cabling or metal bars as well as adding luxuriant atmosphere and colour.

Wound up poles and draped along beams, hop bines are a lovely, natural feature in any event space, and have even been used on film or TV sets and won gold medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show… as well as seeing hundreds of happy couples on their wedding day.

Hop bines can be fresh-cut to order straight from Castle Farm’s Hop Gardens in Kent from mid-August to mid-September. However, in order to preserve the bines for use throughout the rest of the year, The Hop Shop dries most of their crop in hot-air kilns to maintain their colour and longevity, dispatching them on request throughout the UK on 48-hour delivery.
