A fortress at the edge of the Sahara

Kasbah des Caïds is a restored fortified kasbah in the palm oasis of Tamnougalt in Morocco's Drâa Valley, with weddings held in the Oasis Garden, on the rooftop and in the courtyard.

Kasbah des Caïds stands in the palm-filled oasis of Tamnougalt, one of southern Morocco's oldest fortified dwellings and a former stop for caravans travelling from the Sahara towards Marrakech. It has been restored from ruins over the last 25 years by the original family owner.

The Oasis Garden covers 14,000 square metres of date palms beside the river and offers three ceremony areas for around 70, 100 and 200 guests. A backup ceremony space is available in the courtyard, or a tent in the Oasis, and caterers use the kitchen on the Oasis site.

Location

Getting there

The kasbah is 250 km and about 4 hours 30 minutes by road from Marrakech, on the route towards Merzouga. The Oasis Garden is an 8 minute walk from the kasbah, with small vehicle transport available.
