A Somerset house with a long history
Montigo Resorts Somerset at Charlton House, formerly Charlton House, is a Grade II listed country house hotel near Shepton Mallet with 28 rooms and suites, a Regency Orangery for ceremonies, an orchard, walled gardens and a spa.
Charlton House dates to the early 1600s and is a Grade II listed estate. It was refurbished in 1996 by Roger and Monty Saul, founders of the Mulberry Design Company, and many of their craftworks remain in the rooms. It was bought in March 2023 by KOP Limited and is now managed by Montigo Resorts.
Ceremonies in the Orangery
The Regency Orangery has grand iron windows and chandeliers, and serves as a ceremony room overlooking the lawns and the apple orchard. The restaurant, set in the estate's botanical conservatory, is used for wedding breakfasts and special celebrations.
