From his seaside home in Poole, Robert Braithwaite had a dream of creating a different kind of boat.
And in the 1970s, this dream started to turn into a reality, when he and his team set about designing and building a custom boat for Formula 1 driver, Henry Taylor. This bespoke beauty needed to accommodate a full width sunbed, so the Sunseeker team created an unprecedented and wildly successful new luxury boat.

Success starts to grow
The late seventies saw Sunseeker’s success span the UK and northern Europe. But Braithwaite’s dream was to create boats perfect for Mediterranean cruising – stylish, beautiful, and fast.

What the customer wants…
Performance models started to be crafted, with Sunseeker looking at things very differently. Exactly how did each owner use their boat? What did they want out of it? It was this careful consideration of their customers that cemented Sunseeker’s focus on fun, enjoyment and high performance. Still very practical, these boats became more and more stylish, with Sunseeker winning two of the world’s most prestigious accolades in the International Superyacht Design awards.

Their ambition to create masterpieces and their commitment to reaching only the highest standards sets Sunseeker apart. Their passion for perfection and boundary pushing designs make this brand a rightful global icon.

Boats for Bond
This iconic global fame has seen Sunseeker boats as the only choice for the world renowned James Bond movies. Having appeared in the films since 1999, the pre-credits sequence of The World Is Not Enough features a Sunseeker chasing up the Thames, and the boats continue their famous cameos through Die Another Day, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.

Celebrity fans
Popular with celebrities the world over, Sunseeker sees Nicole Kidman, Simon Cowell, Eddie Jordan and Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones as fans of their products, each owning a gorgeous yacht on which to enjoy relaxing, out of view of the paparazzi.

These sleek, stylish and high performance boats have made a name for Sunseeker as a true bastion of British quality. With the appetite of the rich and famous only ever growing for these stunning vessels, we can’t see them slowing down yet!
