Last night, I had the extraordinary pleasure of attending an evening in the clouds at The Shard, London’s iconic landmark, kindly invited by Daisy Amodio of Daisy Amodio Events. Perched high above the city, the venue offers breathtaking panoramic views, shimmering lights, and an atmosphere brimming with elegance and sophistication — the perfect setting for a gathering of the crème de la crème of wedding planners and suppliers.
From the moment we arrived, the evening felt magical. The lift whisked us up to Level 35, the stunning lobby of Shangri-La The Shard, where rose petals lined the floor, guiding us into a space filled with delicate fragrances and exquisite floral arrangements. From there, a second lift took us down to the event space, where mirrored surfaces and meticulously curated seating added a touch of glamour, and every detail reflected the thoughtfulness and creativity behind the evening.
Cocktails flowed as we mingled with 40 of the top wedding planners and suppliers, soaking in the energy and inspiration that only a luxury wedding event can offer. Guests were treated to personalised touches, including engraved mirrors as keepsakes and tiny surprise bottles tucked beneath our seats, charming details that made the evening playful yet sophisticated.
A true highlight was witnessing a wedding ceremony conducted by Jennifer, the Queen of Celebrants, with bridesmaids in warm neutral tones complementing the elegant décor. Live music accompanied the vows, creating a sensory experience that made everyone feel part of the celebration. Between rooms, interactive surprises kept us engaged, from guessing the number of windows in the building to discovering little tipple gifts under our chairs. Every moment was immersive, connecting us to the artistry and attention to detail that define luxury weddings.
Dinner was a feast for the senses. The dining room was adorned in warm, neutral tones — from the rouched table linens to the exquisite florals and napkins embroidered with the iconic outline of The Shard. The table curved beautifully in a serpentine layout, guiding guests through the room in a sweeping, elegant flow that made every seat feel part of the celebration. The menu featured native lobster, dry-aged beef, and the most decadent tiramisu served in a martini glass topped with wood smoke, a true nod to its Italian roots, crafted by the talented Italian head chef. Candlelit conversations, live music, and interactive dining created a relaxed yet buzzing atmosphere that made every guest feel truly special.
After the meal, we were whisked up in a “party lift” to the rooftop pool after-party. The lift pulsed with music as tequila shots were served, I almost didn’t want to get out! Outside, the pool glowed in shades of pink and red, a DJ booth set the rhythm, and a live saxophone wove melodies around guests cocktail in hand, the perfect finale to an unforgettable evening.
This night reminded me why the world of luxury weddings is so inspiring: it’s the collaboration of extraordinary talent, the creativity in every detail, and the creation of immersive, unforgettable moments that leave a lasting impression. The Shard didn’t just host an event, it showcased the pinnacle of what a wedding experience can be, leaving every guest in awe of its possibilities.
