Idris Elba is officially married! Tying the knot with his sweetheart Sabrina Dhowre, they celebrated in style with a three day wedding at the Ksar Char-Bagh hotel in Marrakech on April 26th. Celebrations started on the night before the wedding with a ‘colours of the souk’ themed dinner, and continued the day after with a festival themed all-white party at the Mandarin Oriental.
The proposal
The pair met in 2017 whilst Elba was filming The Mountain Between Us in Canada and he and model Sabrina have been dating since. He was seen on one knee ahead of a screening of his film, Yardie, in London last year, surprising us all after announcing he’d never wed again.

The couple looked stunningly happy and thrilled with their wedding celebration. Sabrina dazzled in two custom Vera Wang dresses, a sleek white off-the-shoulder dress for the ceremony, with veil and statement earrings and a pearl embroidered figure hugging gown for the reception, with deep V front and back and couture lace. Makeup was done by Charlotte Tilbury and hair by Luana Babbi.
Idris chose a bespoke Ozwald Boateng suit, perfect for a man rumoured to be in the running for the next 007.
The guests
Guests included Vogue editor Edward Enninful and TV presenter Maya Jama, however missing were the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, due to the impending arrival of their baby. Instead they sent a generous gift to the happy couple – a piece of artwork by the Connor Brothers with a Dr Seuss quote, “Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”. The piece is said to cost around $9,000. Idris and Sabrina attended Harry and Meghan’s wedding, and, of course, Idris DJed at their evening reception.
Writing on Instagram, Sabrina said the wedding was “The best day of my life”. It certainly looks perfect! Congratulations to the beautifully happy couple.
