Creative ways to incorporate blush pink and succulents into your wedding

That delicate, romantic shade of blush pink. The subtle, grey-green of the succulent plant. Together they comprise one of the hottest – and hardest to get right – trends in weddings right now.

Careys Manor Hotel in the New Forest has a few clever tricks for couples who want to pull off this elegant look.

1. Make white your background colour

The wooden ceiling of the wedding room at Careys Manor could have a darkening effect on this scene, but white slipcovers and a white aisle carpet are used to draw down the light from the atrium. This, in turn, creates the perfect backdrop for the use of blush pink and succulent in the birchwood arch and foliage at the beginning of the aisle.

2. Think pink

The bride has used faux blossom branches to add a subtle hint of pink to the decorative arch, layering colour with succulents planted at the arch base and echoing the theme again in the sphagnum moss lollipop trees. Succulents have the added benefit of being available all year round and they can be re- planted after the wedding.

3. Add greens

Remember that succulents aren’t the only plants which have this beautiful, pearlescent grey-green look. Eucalyptus, used in this table decoration, is perfect as are white hydrangea and white roses which take on the hue when placed next to foliage of the same colour. The rustic planter is made from a hollowed-out birch log and adds to the natural, organic look.

4. Layer your theme colours in the dining room

Blush pink and succulents provide the perfect colours for wedding breakfast tables and look great in candlelight. Layer the look by incorporating these colours into place name cards, menus and table-linen.

If you do choose candelabras, then go for a tall design – partly to keep naked flames away from guests’ clothing but also because they won’t then have an obstructed view of each other or the top table.

5. Search out accessories which echo your theme

Accessories to match blush pink and succulents can be found in all kinds of places. The bride here has chosen weathered willow heart favours to echo the gentle greys found in the plants and foliage used at the wedding. You may choose to give guests their very own succulent plant to take away.

6. Dine on local produce

Locally-sourced food complements this relaxed, organic theme perfectly. Careys Manor sources the finest produce from The New Forest and Hampshire to create delicious menus for weddings – and they also have one of the UK’s largest selections of English wines to choose from.
