Jimmy Choo first showed the Biker Mid in Autumn/Winter 2008, and it is back at the centre of the house’s boots this season, alongside heeled ankle boots and knee boots. Between them they cover most of what an autumn wardrobe asks of a pair of boots: the school run, the office, a weekend away and dinner.

Chapter one 
The biker boot
The Biker Mid in black and toffee crackled leather, a finish Jimmy Choo creates with a specialised process that brings out the texture. Engraved buckle straps, silver-tone hardware, a biker sole and a low stacked heel.
The plain black Biker Mid is £925. For winter there is a version lined in shearling, and for more height the Biker knee boot in shiny lamb leather.
Chapter two 
The heeled ankle boot
The Cece in soft vachetta leather: an equestrian shape with a pointed toe, a graphic 60mm block heel and a side zip. It is the one to wear with everything from jeans to a midi skirt.
For a lower, everyday heel, the Lawton 65 with its harness strap on a rubber sole. For evening, the Frankie 85 or the lace-up Scarlett 95.
Chapter three 
The knee boot
The Amis in soft shiny leather, inspired by 1990s dressing, with folded side seams that cross over and a 35mm kitten heel you can walk in all day.
For more heel, the Alizze and the Agathe, both on a slim 85mm heel. For the coldest days, the Jozi in velvet suede lined with shearling.
Which boot first
If you buy one pair this autumn, make it the Biker Mid: it goes with dresses, jeans and tailoring, and the style has barely changed since 2008. If you already own flat boots, the Cece is the most versatile heel. The knee boot is the one that changes an outfit most, over bare legs with a skirt or tucked over jeans.
