The 5 Star Edit (shop.5starweddingdirectory.com) is run by 5 Star Weddings Ltd, the company behind 5 Star Wedding Directory. We are the controller of the personal data described here.

How The 5 Star Edit works

We choose designer pieces and link to the stores that sell them, such as NET-A-PORTER and Jimmy Choo. You never buy anything from us: there is no basket, no account and no payment on this site. When you follow a link and buy, you buy directly from that store, under its own terms and privacy policy, and we may earn a commission. How we earn explains this in full.

We do not collect payment details, delivery addresses, account passwords or anything about your purchases. Stores tell us, through the affiliate network, that a sale happened and what commission is due, not who you are.

Cookies and browser storage

We keep this deliberately small. Everything below is either essential or something you control.

Instagram posts. Some stories include an Instagram post. Instagram’s code, and the cookies Instagram sets, load only when you press “Show the post” or allow Instagram in privacy choices. Until then you see a plain link.

When you click through to a store. Our shopping links pass through Rakuten Advertising, the affiliate network, on the way to the store. Rakuten Advertising and the store set their own cookies on their own websites so the sale can be credited to us. Those cookies are theirs, not ours, and are covered by their privacy policies: Rakuten Advertising, and the policy linked at the foot of each store’s website.

Fonts. Our typefaces are served from our own website, so loading a page does not send your details to a font provider.

Who helps us run the site

• IONOS, our web host, stores the website and its database in the United Kingdom. IONOS privacy policy.
• Cloudflare protects the site and delivers it quickly. Cloudflare privacy policy.
• Rakuten Advertising runs the affiliate links, as described above.

Network Solutions (Newfold Digital) hosts our mailbox and sends our emails. Each acts on our instructions or under its own policy as stated. If we move the newsletter to another email service, we will name it here before we do.

Data outside the UK

Some providers, such as Cloudflare, are based in the United States. Where personal data leaves the UK it is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK’s adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Addendum.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

• tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy;
• correct it if it is wrong;
• delete it;
• stop or limit using it, or object to how we use it;
• give it to you in a portable format.

Where we rely on your consent, such as the newsletter, you can withdraw it at any time: use the unsubscribe link in any email or write to us. Email [email protected] and we will reply within one month. There is no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113.

Children

The 5 Star Edit is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change how we use personal data, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
