A December escape means buying swimwear when the shops are full of coats. Agent Provocateur’s swim collection has just arrived with us, so we have built a winter-sun suitcase around it, with swimsuits, kaftans and flat sandals from £70 to £990.

Taller Marmo’s Yacare set is a green one-shoulder swimsuit with a matching pareo trimmed in hand-tied fringe, made in Italy. £435.
Tom Ford’s black swimsuit has subtle polka dots, chain straps and high-cut legs, £350. Chloé’s is shiny pink with a tonal logo and a tie at the shoulder, £226.
For dinner 
Printed kaftans and sandals

Packing for winter sun
Take two swimsuits so one can dry while you wear the other. Choose one cover-up long enough to walk into lunch in, and one pair of flat sandals that will manage both sand and a restaurant. Rinse swimwear in cool fresh water after the sea or the pool, and dry it flat in the shade. Sun cream and chlorine are hard on metallic foils and gold-tone hardware, so keep those pieces for the evening swim if you can. Pack sandals in their dust bags.
