Today’s blog is about wedding stationery trends sent to us from Ananya Cards.
It’s no surprise that here at Ananya Cards, we have an enduring love affair with details and personalisation – and it all starts with the first glimpse of a couple’s stationery. As we approach the start of a new year, we’re excited to share what we see and predict as exquisite trends couples choose for their weddings around the globe in 2024.
Cultural Motifs & Meaningful Colours
All weddings have a unique combination of traditions and new ideas – and none more so than cultural celebrations, which are typically full of rich, diverse heritage. Couples opt for palettes with deep colours like vibrant reds, shiny golds, joyous pinks, and rich greens – alongside elegant hues like purple and blue. We also love the comeback of vintage, retro colours like pale yellows, baby blues, and monochrome details. While minimalism had a spotlight throughout 2023, couples now want everything from their florals to their fonts to be bolder and louder – and LOVE it.
Bringing together tradition and modernity is something we are particularly proud of and excited by
here at Ananya Cards, we also adore all the opportunities to create 2024 wedding stationery with cultural motifs, henna patterns, paisley motifs, or subtle mandalas, all woven into contemporary suites to wow their loved ones.
Eco-conscious Alternatives
Sustainability continues to be a priority for our couples and – thankfully – retains its position as one of the top wedding trends for 2024 and beyond. Eco-conscious stationery alternatives, such as seeded and plantable paper, paper made from recycled materials and fibres, or even working with less resource and waste-intensive printing processes, have surged in popularity.
Clients want to create and personalise their wedding stationery in a way that is luxurious but aren’t willing to compromise on the effect that this has on the planet. Similarly, this trend sees couples searching for sustainable fashion for wedding attire, ethically sourced materials for their decor, and wedding vendors who share in their mission to turn a new leaf on waste.
Illustrations & Custom Monograms
As we’ve touched on a little bit already, the idea of hyper-personalisation is still at the heart of all the current major wedding trends, and we love that monograms are rising in popularity.
Couples’ initials, crests, and family names are transformed into works of art for their wedding stationery, adding exclusivity and sophistication. Some of our clients have expressed interest in bespoke taglines and phrases, which their tailors and seamstresses skilfully incorporate into outfits or accessories. One particularly romantic example is the idea of having your vows delicately embroidered into exquisite tulle bridal or love notes stitched into bridal veils or the groom’s shirt cuffs!
Another side of this personalisation trend is that more and more couples are working with artists to commission custom portraits, hand-drawn fonts, and hand-painted illustrations – all of which becomes artwork that is completely unique to their wedding. Hand-lettered menus, playful drawings, and miniature illustrations are all wonderful ways of weaving the couple’s story, personality, culture, or wedding destination into every element of their one-of-a-kind stationery.
Tradition meets Technology
Like everything else in our society and lives, technology is also playing an increasingly large part in wedding stationery.
Tradition and tech are coming together in the wedding stationery space with social media-inspired animations, digital invitations, and interactive online elements. We’re noticing a rise in using QR codes as an easy and stylish way to connect guests with digital resources – like wedding websites or RSVP forms, for example – thus making the experience even more seamless and convenient. And while paper invitations will forever be special, we’re also noticing couples choosing to complement that with paperless options too.
For example, having a gorgeous paper wedding invitation with fewer elements and directing guests to a URL to fill out their RSVPs online saves time, paper, and waste, too! Couples use online tools to coordinate their guest lists, RSVP responses, seating charts, and more. We’ve also had couples asking us to explore the use of interactive AR elements as another way to elevate their invitations. While still a little bit obscure, AR can actually be quite a game-changer, allowing guests to unlock hidden messages, personal videos, and surprise experiences.
Destination Aesthetics & Multi-Day Stationery
Wedding invitations are increasingly becoming gateways to the world – as couples are taking inspiration from their favourite destinations, holidays, and cultures. Imagine a romantic Tuscan celebration captured in Italian-inspired invites or a Greek soirée depicted through the Save the Dates adorned with the azure beauty of the Aegean Sea.
The world is your oyster! Here at Ananya Cards, we’re deeply passionate about travel and adore partnering with couples who share this passion. Together, we can uncover completely unique ways to make sure that their stationery is a delightful first glimpse of the international experience they are lovingly hosting for their friends and family.
As destination weddings gain popularity worldwide, the demand for stationery for multi-day celebrations is on the rise. From crafting event-specific invitations, itineraries, and menus to providing comprehensive paper goods for each occasion, like welcome parties, rehearsal dinners, or farewell BBQs and pool parties, couples ensure a seamless and aesthetically pleasing experience. Welcome boxes and bags become delightful carriers of essential stationery items such as illustrated maps, detailed activity itineraries, accommodation details, travel directions, cultural
guides and other memorable keepsakes for the wedding weekend.
So, what does 2024 have in store for the world of luxury weddings? We’re delighted to say it will be a gorgeous year of diversity, sustainability, and personalisation like never before. It will be an opportunity for multicultural weddings to shine with even more vibrancy and detail, showing off
couples’ love stories and personalities with bespoke monograms and hand-painted motifs and illustrations. As the new year approaches, we’re reminded that wedding stationery is much more than just paper – it’s your chance to tell your story and start a new chapter just how you want it
to be.
