Astounded by Astor
Being met with a glass of pink Moet Champagne is always a delight, and this is exactly how we were greeted as we entered the Corinthia Hotel in London for a BRIDES Magazine event to showcase Amanda Wakeley’s exciting new collection.
We had been invited by BRIDES Magazine along with brides-to-be and members of the media to witness the launch of Amanda Wakeley’s stunning Astor Collection. But first, there were canapes to be eaten, tiny bites of delicious desserts to enjoy and more pink champagne to be tasted!
As excited brides milled about the beautiful room on the lookout for the perfect dress, we took the opportunity to peruse the experts who were exhibiting. Floral designers, photographers and beauty specialists welcomed us – the very best in luxury wedding suppliers. Bobbi Brown had a gorgeously girly, perfectly pretty make up station, and award winning hair stylist, Errol Douglas was showcasing his exquisite services.
On to the show, and after being welcomed by BRIDES, Amanda Wakeley introduced us to her sparkling collection of gorgeous gowns. We sat at elegant round tables with crisp, clean white linen and the prettiest rose centrepieces and flickering candles, which created just the right atmosphere for the ethereal, dreamy show.
These beautiful designs fuse vintage romance with contemporary detailing, and would be perfect for a sun drenched destination wedding. Delicate tulle, rich floral embroidery and elegant lace combine to create light silhouettes with whispering trains and jewel encrusted feature backs.
A contemporary lace trimmed silk satin jumpsuit and chic ivory tux rounded off the collection, following a dazzling display of the prettiest of gowns. But far from awkwardly standing out, these pieces completed the collection with a flourish – the ideal choice as a gorgeous alternative to the classic dress.
We think this collection is so versatile, with each dress so beautifully unique. If you’re planning a wedding with a boho vibe, definitely make sure you take a closer look at it. The floating lines and detailed embroidery would be the perfect match to fit the theme. And they would suit a destination beach wedding just as well. Forget hauling a substantial ball gown halfway around the world – these are light and easily transported! But oh-so elegant and simply stunning.
