Today on the blog, we’re going to indulge ourselves a little. Celebrities seem to be getting engaged all over the place, so we’ve taken a look at some of our favourite engagement rings to sprinkle a little sparkle to your autumnal day.
Lady Gaga’s diamond heart
Lady Gaga’s sparkly stunner of a ring was presented to her by fiancé Taylor Kinney on Valentine’s Day. Her 10-carat heart-shaped diamond was also personalised, with the couple’s initials incorporated into the band. A totally over-the-top number – perfect for the Lady herself, we think!
Amal’s emerald-cut classic
How could Amal Alamuddin say no to a 7-carat ethically sourced diamond – especially with George Clooney on the other end of it – what a dream… We love the simplicity and elegance of her emerald cut ring, although, at £450k, we’re not surprised she opts for something a little more understated as a replacement when in the courtroom.
Blake’s bold statement
Blake Lively’s light pink stunner is just so pretty. And we love the unique setting, such a lovely way to wear a big rock, it makes the ring feel really dainty. Standing at 12-carats, this one’s not going to be missed, although we certainly missed the wedding itself… done on the sly in 2012…
Kate’s royal heirloom
Now we couldn’t write a piece on engagement rings without mentioning one of the most famous rings – Princess Diana’s –now adorning the hand of the Duchess of Cambridge. Its fourteen solitaire diamonds surround a gorgeous 12-carat oval blue Ceylon sapphire. Sophisticated, beautiful and dripping in royal heritage, the heirs to the throne certainly know how to pick a timeless classic.
Christina’s hidden colours
One of our favourites has to Christina Aguilera’s beautiful floral engagement ring. Matt Rutler popped the question on Valentine’s Day 2014 with an oval cut diamond set in a double halo. It’s split band sets off this chunky delight just perfectly and it’s hidden, multi-coloured secret gemstones are so romantic, each chosen for their meaning and placed under the diamond so they are always touching her skin. Apparently, it took her fiancé over a year to get the details of this bespoke piece just right. But we think it’s well worth the wait.
Whatever the size, shape or colour, engagement rings should be personal, beautiful and the most special gift. We think the fiancés of these five lucky ladies have got it spot on!
