Harry & Meghan’s Royal Wedding Timeline + Order of Service
Just in case you missed it…
Here’s a minute-by-minute recap of how the very special royal wedding of Harry and Meghan panned out.
08.11 – The Queen gives Prince Harry the title of Duke Of Sussex, a title not used since the reign of King George III in the 1700s.
09.00 – Members of the public who were invited to watch the wedding day from the grounds of Windsor Castle began to arrive, including 200 representatives from charities Harry is associated with, who gathered in the Horseshoe Cloister at the bottom of the chapel steps.
09.30-11.00 – Wedding guests arrived at the Castle’s famous Round Tower by coach and entered the chapel through the South Door and took their seats.
11.19 – Meghan Markle and her mother, Doria Ragland, leave Cliveden House and travel in a vintage Rolls-Royce Phantom IV to Windsor.
11.20 – Members of the royal family began to arrive and entered via the Galilee Porch, some on foot, others by car.
11.35 – Harry and his brother the Duke of Cambridge arrived at the Chapel’s West Steps, on foot, walking past the thousands of spectators invited into the grounds of the castle.
11.45 – Meghan and her mother reach Windsor, and Doria Ragland leaves the car, replaced by John and Brian Mulroney Meghan’s pageboys.
11.55 – Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall arrive.
11.57 – Following protocol, the Queen was the last member of the royal family to arrive for the wedding service, long with the Duke of Edinburgh.
11.59 – Meghan’s flower girls and pageboys arrive at the Chapel steps, escorted by their mothers, Benita Litt, Jessica Mulroney and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge.
12.01 – We get the first look at Meghan’s dress as she arrives at the West Steps of St George’s chapel with her pageboys. She processes into the church as the service starts. You can see the Order of Service here.
12.31 – The couple exchange vows.
12.39 – Harry and Meghan are announced as husband and wife by Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.
13.05 – The service ends and the newlyweds emerge at the West Steps of the Chapel, sharing their first kiss as newlyweds.
13.10 – The couple begin one of the longest wedding processions in living memory in an open topped Ascot Landau carriage.
14.00 – The formal reception for 600 guests, hosted by the Queen, begins at the Royal apartments.
19.00 – Bride and groom depart Windsor castle for the evening reception at Frogmore House hosted by the Prince of Wales for 200 of their close friends and family.
